You could leave this car on the side of the road and buy a better specimen for what this is gonna cost. But nice that it’s going to be saved.

Incredible. How can a “professional” do this ? And how could a Ferrari owner accept these repairs ?

I don't think the owner would have seen the cardboard once the panels are all buttoned up, especially if the guy is not local to the shop where he can inspect as the repair is being done.

Total fraud, I hope the owner recoups his cost, that is unbelievably BS.

This work is worthy of a bullet to the back of the head.

Zero attempt to do anything right. So sad

Will you be replacing that whole support part 70000611? Or just half of it?

Seems like there are several areas that will be a complete start over?

Yeah cutting most of the nose sheet metal out and replacing. I think most of us would like a few minutes alone with the tech that did the prior repair.

Lightweight racing ‘cardboard fibre’ custom front end... hopefully it was at least corrugated! Sadly I doubt this is the only one. Great to see proper craftsmanship in action.

Wow, that “repair” is just mind blowing. What a hack job.

I’m starting to restore my 91 348 and will be repainting the entire car mostly because the buttress’ are cracked and a few little things here and there add up to I might as well just paint it all. I see you guys always do full bare metal paint jobs and I’ve heard some debate on it. All the cars I’ve painted before were classic restorations with lots of new sheet metal and I just did everything to bare metal. A friend of mine owns 2 body shops and he and his paint guys are telling me I don’t need to go bare metal on the whole thing. They were taught that if you didn’t have to remove the factory primer to steel bond then you were better off. What are your thoughts?

Also if I do go bare metal on it all do you mind sharing what chemical stripper you use? In your pictures it looks like the product works way better than any of them I’ve tried. Thanks.

Thats a common mentality for bodyshops because most parts come factory E-coated now so they sand and spray. The problem with older cars is really not knowing the history from day one. So we go down to bare metal to remove the possibility of someone else defective work causing issues with our fresh paint. You also find pockets of rust that have not made there way to the surface yet. Anyone can get a car to look perfect out of the spray booth, 5-10 years after is what were worried about.

Aircraft paint stripper, scuff the clear with 180 grit paper, soak the panel in paint remover, put a bag over it, wait 20 min, scrape it off, and repeat.
