This is the chip we are responsible for. Originally I was going to pay for Ted to have it repaired locally. My guess is it was picked up during road testing.

    First issue-Burnt out trunk Solenoid.

Just looking into the center console I can see what caused the issue. You can see the 2nd to last switch is stuck. This is what originally caused the issue the first time. We are being accused of charging for the switch but not installing it. If you run the part number you can see it only works on a Mondial T and we have never worked on another. I did not buy new switches and throw them into the garbage. Photos of the switch removed show it's a newer style.

This is what caused the harness and solenoid to burn out.

    Issue- Slow down light.

The slow down light I could not reproduce. I will try again to reproduce the issue when the engine is back in the car but must continue on.

Amen to that. I did some car servicing in the past and I feel Bradan's pain. It is terrible to have a situation where things happen from such a great distance and not being there to do anything about it. I have been there - 99 out of 100 things go perfect and everybody is happy, but in some cases the mechanical Gods all convey against you and a bad circle starts that turns out to be very difficult to escape from.
As any doctor will tell you, the worst things happen during maintenance and not during normal use, and while most patients just come and go, every once in a while all the bad luck in the world focuses on a single one and no matter what the intentions, it goes from bad to worse.

As for the "electrical gremlins", my guess is that the solenoid and the headlights are related, probably the fuse or something else popped eventually and then the headlights stopped too. This switch for the trunk hanging up and then burning the solenoid is a known issue on Mondials, because those switches are ****ty from new. A new switch was installed, it is logical it can happen again, perhaps it's even more likely than with an old one. But saying that was Bradan's fault, come 'on, that's just lame in my book.
Meanwhile they are doing everything in their power to fix it and are being far from lame about the situation, and all we can, no SHOULD, do is sit back and let them do what they're good at.

    Oil leak.

    Front Ted.
"No, they (Scott Wallace of CAS) is sure its the front seal or possibly the cam seal. The tech who installed my TOB gave me some false hope that it could have just been the oil sensor but its leaking again on my floor so it has to be the seal. He sent me schematic pictures of the area he thinks, and that the "front of the engine" "

This issue is really our biggest concern. An inspection of all cams seals, front main seal, and valve covers shows them to be dry. A drip of oil was hanging from the front of the motor but could not be traced. We are on the same page at CAS and cannot find the source with the engine in the car. It's currently being removed to pinpoint the source of the drip.

What really caught my eye and I think is the major source of the oil found on Teds floor is the Transmission/Engine connection area.

Whatever criticisms I have expressed of Braden, I respect them for honoring their commitment and demonstrating what appears to be superb customer service.

I hope for everyone's sake that Braden is successful in their repairs so that Ted may enjoy his car and Braden can put this chapter behind them.

    Good luck!

Let's not turn this into another argument. For now let us just do our thing and figure out all of these issues.

    Much appreciated Joe.

I'm hoping the back end of this thread will conclude that you truly care about your customers and through fault or no direct fault of your own, you will make it right, and so far, you are doing just this. My main concern is the leaking of oil from my engine, i believe that an engine that is removed and gone through meticulously over a 6 month period shouldn't leak when its put all back together, and if it does, it should be fixed, after all that’s why it went in in the first place and what i was expecting when it came out. I can’t imagine a scenario where "your car is still leaking oil, but you never told us or paid for us to fix that exact problem"

In these photos you are showing my paint, I never publically spoke of the damages to my paint, but much of what you are showing here, was there when i picked it up from you, but they became the least of my concerns driving home with a bad clutch and a leaking engine upon arrival.

The chip and dime size dent on my front bumper you agreed to as being your fault, as well as the chip in my gas door housing. I got an independent estimate for the dent and the chip, it came to 700.00 but you said you would have it fixed in house, and i've agreed, i just touched up the chip in the gas door myself because i was tired of looking at it.

Careful here, The paint burn you are showing was there the day i picked it up, i said nothing because i didn’t remember exactly if it was there when i first bought it, i doubt it, but i believe it was from the detailing you gave it, still i say nothing, along with the drivers door edge amongst the rest of the chips here and there... I'm not interested in having these issues fixed because the car is 22 years old and I’m not holding you responsible for the chips here and there, but please, don’t point them out as some indication that i am rough on my car, quite the contrary, I’m just trying to be fair by keeping the focus on the important issues.

Please fix my oil leak(s) and the real important issues that brought the car back to you and thank you for really trying to do me right!

Dan, I dont know why you are showing my rims and center caps, they were that way when i bought it, and they were that way during the 8 months it was in your shop, i had nothing to do with that damage nor did you. I always looked at it as very slight, some day i may replace the caps when i have the car long enough. nothing really to see here...

    Ted bought a Ferrari...
Ted brought said Ferrari to Bradan...
Ted had Bradan do a "major" service. Fix a clutch and address electrical issues...

Five months and $15,000 later, Ted drove said Ferrari home.
    ~ cam seals are leaking.
    ~ clutch went poof.
    ~ electronics went bad.

    But besides that, everythings fine.

interesting way of interpreting this thread. I see it as

    Ted buys car
Ted pays Braden to fix a, b and c.
Braden fixes a, b and c and hands the car back to the owner.
Since its a 22 year old car, problems d, e and f pops up
Owner expects Braden to be responsible for all issues related or not
Braden goes way beyond what any shop would do in this situation while still getting trolled by some guy named jjmalez

Good to hear from you again on this thread. This is very positive. A one year warranty on any work on a 20+ year old Ferrari is exceptionally honorable. I for one am confident this story will have a happy ending.

I'm the "troll" as you put it. Please read this thread from the beginning. The OP is Bradan. They start this thread to promote their work.

As far as history goes, lets look at Joe Zaff. Mondial and Testaross owner. His post was # 225 dated 09/16/11:

"At some point enough is enough.

I don't want to hear the nonsense that...these are old cars, blah, blah, blah. Give me a break. I don't think the OJ jury would have swallowed this much!

It may be a remarkable coincidence to some that the clutch failed after they failed to replace the throwout bearing or that you have had electrical problems galore after they installed the gold connector kit and replaced the fuse box, they may even want to minimize your flaming trunk with the failed solenoid that they replaced. Everyone can continue coming up with excuses, but at what point do you start questioning the workmanship? Are we now so afraid to call out a sponsor that we need a fricken video before we are willing to open our mouths.

These guys are not Ferrari mechanics anymore than my local Exxon which is currently working on a beater Mondial are Ferrari mechanics. If I am wrong, they would have corrected me by now, but they freely acknowledge they don't have any factory trained mechanics in their shop. They may have a great webpage and do killer tuner mods and paintwork, but boy does it look like they got over their heads on this one...with your time, money and safety. You can continue making excuses for them and turning the other cheek. "

    Joe Zaff

    ***********

To end this conversation Mr didmao 00270000, I've driven Ted's Mondial. The clutch is crap and the electronics dont work. It's leaking oil. Maybe you should try driving his Ferrari before you start calling out names.

Not sure how I missed this thread. Kudos to Braden for taking the time to make it right. i hope that they are ale to resolve this issue, and have faith that they will make it right. Regardless of who started each issue. These are complicated cars.

Either way, this thread reinforces my belief that my 355 will stay in DC for it's major service which now will be done, without consideration of cost, by the Ferrari certified mechanics at Competizione.

That being said, I would send my car to Braden for a detail or paint correction. They do amazing work!
