    Bought one of these expanding thingys (can't think of the name) at the hardware store. The shortest one I found was a bit too long so I cut off a short section with a pipe cutter. Comes in handy for turning on the brake lights for troubleshooting or for applying pressure on the brake pedal/locking the brakes when you don't have an assistant around (or she's unwilling to help ;-)

    I suppose you could use it on the clutch pedal or accelerator also if the need arose.

    I have something similar... extending twist-lock broom pole (I think it was). Have to use wood or something on the ends compared with what you have. Since currently my deck lid cylinders are weak, I often use it to prop the lid open.
