I had noticed that my rear brakes on the 308 seem to wear faster then the fronts. I had my bias valve rebuilt a few years back but still it appears the rear brakes work harder then the fronts. I just replaced all of my brake lines and although the feel is better I still have the same condition. So can someone tell me what the brake pressures are from front to rear and has anyone replaced the OEM bias valve with an adjustable one. Thanks

Steve, that's a little alarming that your rears are wearing faster than the fronts - implies you may have a serious f/r brake balance problem (obviously). Perhaps go somewhere open and desolate and try a couple hard stops to see if the rears lock up prematurely. Snap On (and a couple others) make a brake pressure tester that measures the clamping pressure so you can do side to side and f/r comparisons - helpful if you're unsure of whether a supposedly repaired bias valve is working properly....

This is a fast and DIRTY way to check, but not ACCURATE as having them properly tested.

i take NO responsibility for the below:
Have your car up on a lift.
Lightly push in the brake pedal lightly unit someone outside the car can not move the fronts.
The rears should be able to move when the fronts reach the point where they can not be moved.

Again, this is a fast and DIRTY check and DOES NOT and SHOULD NOT be used in exchange for a PROFESSIONAL checking your system.

Also, try driving around as normal using the brakes "quite" hard..

then stop and check the disc temperatures using an infra red pyrometer.

Typically, on the road, you'll see say 100 deg C front and 60 deg c rear after a "normal " drive.

But about 60% rear temp would be "reasonably" accurate.

If no pyro is too hand.... spitting on the front discs... the spit will bounce off boiling, on the rear it will stick... but you'll look like a goose at the roadside spitting at your brakes......

Thanks guys buy I'm trying to get some numbers here. I'll replace the bias valve with an adjustable one so I wanted to see if anyone had the pressure ranges . Maybe some track guys have some numbers . It's pretty easy to set up the bias once you have the pressures. The OM does not have any numbers and I haven't found anyone so far who has them . Todays fun was putting a hub carrier bearing in my 4WD pickup. Just needed to keep the wrenches warmed up. Thanks
