Anyone ever use the Launch to bleed brakes? I usually use the Motive to do my brakes. Was wondering how it would work if I used the Motive to push the fluid from the reservoir with the Launch bleed procedure? I watch a video with the Leonardo computer and the computer said to bleed the RR. RL, LF, RF and then RR wheel again.

Yes it will do it, buy one of those bleed bottles with the non return valve as makes it real easy

I don't think you need the motive at all if you use the launch ..it uses the anti lock brake pump

The video I watched with the Leonardo system show him use one of those harbor freight gravity feeds from the reservoir and an air compressor pump at the valve that pulled the fluid to the valve. I guess i wanted to do kinda the reverse with the motive. Push at the reservoir, and drain at the valve. I think its the same thing? The Leonardo said to push with the pedal during its instruction, but he did different. Also wondering why they wanted you to rebleed the right rear at the end?

I just did a brake flush/bleed with my Motive. I have a Launch but didn’t try them both at the same time. I also watched that YouTube video and wondered if it would work.
If you try it, please let us all know how it goes. Especially the part that flash32 is talking about, that the Motive might not be needed as the cars pump will push the fluid through the system.

Let's also consider flush vs bleed

Flush is what 99 percent of us do to remove old fluid and replace with new

Bleeding ..trying to remove air as well as flush fluid

The motive alone will do a great job of flushing system and also taking care of air in the lines ..which is.99.9 percent of what we need

When you dismantle or introduce air into the system
. sometimes the motive by itself is not enough ..trapped air in master cylinder or in abs unit

The Ferrari procedure as I assume the Leo specified...is to remove that trapped air

The abs pump will move the fluid and the pumping makes sure no air in the master cylinder

If you want to just flush you can use the launch without the pumping

But honestly the motive is easier and pushing pressure vs pulling does a better job .. and like I said when flushing all that matters is get old fluid out especially near the calipers when the heat degrades the fluid

I have to agree...motive is easier.

I was also concerned about the old fluid trapped in the ABS valves.

It’s definitely a concern, my Harley has to go to the dealer ( or I have to buy one ), every two years and they use their own version of a Launch to flush the ABS valves on their newer bikes. There’s a YouTube video showing the procedure.

One thing that I am not sure if the launch does operate the abs valves ( we know it operates the pump) to allow fluid to flow .. or is does the brake pedal activate the valves -

If the launch SW is similar to OEM it should activate brake circuits exp: R/F, R/R, L/F, L/R which is flushing and bleeding internal of the ABS hydraulic circuit.
Not often needed when servicing the brake fluid unless someone detects unusual ABS performance.
For the record I use the Motive which works just fine.

I assume as well but since I never used the launch on a f430 ( did on other cars) didn't want to promise something without first hand experience - i have to keep my trust :)
