    Hello all
Anybody know a good master cylinder reburber or good second hand/ new source for 400GT . In the UK
    I have diagnosed the following

Front vacumpump line working. no air leaks
Rear vacum to rear engine cam working no air leaks

car did run brakes working with same setup previous to failure, now brake hard to deppress and air hiss noise from piston end/footwell side of master cylinder now presuming the master cylinder needs attention/replacing.

    Any thoughts help appreciated.
PS will update on finally getting my car back on the road once weve got this sorted!!!

    Regards
    Alastair

One sign of a failed master cylinder is to hold the brakes down for 30 seconds or more and if the pedal continues to move then the MC is bad.

I got my MC re-sleeved by an outfit in San Jose CA, which is local to me but probably not the first choice if you're in the UK or Europe. But you should be able to find a similar shop closer to home.

I also needed a new reservoir, because taking the OE unit off created a network of cracks. I got the reservoir from a European source, which I can look up if you need that info.

    Hi Alistair,

I'm really pissed off - there was a company selling refurbed exchange 400 servos a few months ago and I thought I'd saved the seller "just in case" but didn't - sorry.

Have you tried Eurospares ? They usually have a few parted out 400's available.

I've also come across a guy in Italy who breaks 400's:-

Spare Parts For Ferrari 400 2+2 for sale - Bodywork, Exterior Trim & Glass - Classic Car Parts For Sale (Item: 3616) | Classic Cars For Sale

I'll see if I can locate the eBay company as may have saved the link on one of my many pc's/laptops/iPads/iPhones etc.

Dont blame for misplacing the link as i understand youve just mooved hoose!
I will go down the eurospares route first then try to find a reasonable uk rebuilder.
    Thanks for the moral support

I had the exact same issue about three months ago, and I mean the exact same hissing sound and hard pedal. I sent my booster/master cylinder to a re-builder here in the US - Whiterock. The whole thing - diagnosis by two experts, removal, refurbish, replacement was right at $1,000.00. The removal part was tedious as I didn't want to break anything - especially the fluid reservoir. I chose to have mine refurbished as I wasn't sure what I would get from a new-old stock part, or one that had been refurbished by who knows who. On the bright side you have to change the fluid which probably needed doing anyway.

    Good old eurospares.

For info gents original brake servo (booster and master) £1300.00 + VAT

Patern made new by another manufacturer £1000.00 +VAT

From breaking vehicle could be any model such as mondial etc £350+VAT
these are all tested and available.

So for me a no brainer so unless I have overlooked something (never say never) it will bolt on to my car and off we go.
    Regards

    For info gents
Eurospares £350.00 + VAT complete servo (booster and master cylinder)
In this case off a testarossa, perfect. Retained the master cylinder and reservoir from my old one for originality. Out and in in 3 hrs without disturbing the brake circuit.
    Heaven.
    Regards
