hard brakes. Replaced the brake booster valve. Still doesnt fix the problem. The brakes work fine for a couple of tries then go hard again. Brake booster pump seems to be working fine. put a vacume on it and it holds pressure no problem. Checked the vacume pressure off the engine and im only getting around 10 inch pounds at idle. This seems much lower then a regular car that puts out around 18 or so. Any expertise in this area would be greatly apprieciated. Thanks, Mike

    What year/model/version F?

Are you applying the vacuum just to the physical port on the brake booster or to where the check valve mounts (which will also include the hose from the check valve to the brake booster)?

Its an 82 308 Steve. The car is at my old mans shop in socal. They build hot rods so their not to up to speed on Ferraris. Im having to relay info back and forth. So not quite sure if i can answer your question since im not actually performing the troubleshooting

See where Steve's going there? Saying to test by applying the vacuum back there in the engine compartment to test if there's a leak in the long vacuum line to the front of the car.

But are you saying you're only getting 10 inHg of vacuum?

Yes only 10 inch lbs off the motor. Doesn't seem like enough.
We can't seem to find any leaks and have replaced the booster valve

It may be that one of the rubber break lines to the caliber has closed up. They tend to do that with age.

We checked those lines. Doesn't seem to be the problem. The question I have is shouldn't the engine be producing more then 10inches of vacume at idle? The car runs but I don't think like a Ferrari should. At 10 inches that would mean around 6 or so once you head down the road. Not enough to keep up with the booster. Do you think it could be a cam adjustment issue?
