Replaced the rear brake pad on an 80 308 . The inside caliper on the driver side, after screwing it in with the allen, would not tighten back up. Is there a trick to getting it to tighten? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I have a problem with mine as well. How did you get the inside piston to move in? I remover the pads and used the brake pedal to push the piston outwards since it was stuck. The outside piston went back in w/o too much trouble but the inside one where the handbrake is won't move, I broke a c-clamp trying. Am I missing something?
    Thanks,
    Steve

On the inside caliper half, you need to turn the 4mm allen wrench counter clockwise to retract the piston (opposite direction to the outer half). I would suggest using a small C-clamp to assist as you are turning it but you shouldn't have to apply a great deal of pressure with it. If you "broke a c-clamp trying", you might have damaged something.

Sounds like the screw is stripped or there is other damage. This should not be any more difficult then the outer piston so it looks like you need to take it apart and rebuild it.
