    Does anyone know what the brake pipe thread is on the top of the 246 series 3 (E) brake compensator, it seems to be a coarser thread than the standard fitting and I don't want to take it out just yet without a replacement to hand.

    Takr it out. You have to bleed the brake system anyway. Go to Home Depot with the compensator and they have a board with all metric and usthreads. Or, buy a thread ptitch checkeer todetermine the pitch. I am almost sure that it eill be usa
