    The 296 brake dust is quite grainy to the touch, unlike the fine powder residue on my 599. Both have carbon ceramic discs, but I suspect that the 17 year newer discs on the 296 have a different compositition. My question is whether the 296 graining is entirely caused by the pad material or in part by the disc composition? Anyone have a clue?
