My service department is asking me to supply my own brake fluid since they didn't do the last fluid change and don't know the fluid compatibility. How much fluid should I supply for a complete fluid change?

My 360 was filled with ATE Blue brake fluid. Should I just get ATE Gold to ensure compatibility?

All DOT 3,4, and 5.1 are compatible. Only DOT 5 (silicone) is not. Any shop that does not know that and does not know how to test for compatibility should stick to Golf cart repair.

Seriously, it is beyond stupid not to know. Hold people you pay money to a far higher standard. It is just a little more complex that putting air in a tire...but not much.

The ATE fluid is pretty ordinary. Sta Lube probably has the same boiling point.

I hope this isn't a Ferrari service department but at my age nothing surprises me.

Yes, it's weird. But this is a Ferrari service department with a otherwise sterling reputation and they have treated me great for years. So I am not going to throw them under the bus for a small inconvenience like bringing in my own fluids. They are known all over FChat and I don't want to go there.

Can someone tell me how many liters I need and if ATE Gold is a good choice? Thanks!

As Rifledriver said any 3, 4, or 5.1 are compatible so unless at some time your car was changed over to silicone (highly unlikely) just get a couple of quart cans.

The owners manual says 1.5 liters for three pedals and 1.3 liters for F1. So two liters or 2 qts will do it.
