How long can brake fluid last in a never opened container?

I have an unopened brake fluid bottle I bought several years ago and never used. Is there a shelf life to brake fluid? It is in original sealed container, never touched since purchase.

    Thanks

ATE says 5 years if not exposed to unusual temperatures in storage. They say use an opened container within one year.

It's...what, $7? Throw it out and buy new fluid.

Waste is no good, use it if its less than 5 years old, especially if it is in a metal container.
