I am hoping that somebody can help me. I have an 1983 Mondial Cab that has an issue with the brake lights. The brake lights are on constantly. The minute I turn the key the brake lights go on. I looked near the brake pedal for the "plunger" switch to see of it was stuck but I can't seem to locate it. Anybody know the issue and how to fix it? Thanks in advance for your help. Thanks-Tom

That happened on my Lotus. There is a pressure switch on the rear brake line that activates the brake lights. In time the plunger gets stuck. When you turn the car off the brake lights will not be on but when you push the pedal the first time they won't go out, right? Or if it's REALLY stuck they stay on.

On my car it is a small cube with 3 wires. Replacing it only cost me a $20 part and took all of 5 minutes but your mileage may vary if yours is Ferrari specific. If you can locate it, I definitely would do this yourself. Try and see if it's a generic part; it should be. Be sure to bleed the brakes when you're done.

Sounds like the brake light switch which is activated by the brake peddle. So look for the plunger type switch under the brake peddle and see if it is miss adjusted or if it failed closed. Maybe the plunger is stuck. So if your brake lights go on when you turn on the ign. then this is the problem. If your brake WARNING light goes on then its a problem with the brake system pressure sensor or the brake system. This usually only goes on when you step on the brakes. Good luck
