I am having a problem with the brakes on a 84 308 Euro. When I step on the brakes I hear what sounds like a air sound (shisssssss) and it keeps going until I release the brake. It is not low on fluid. The brakes are very weak and you really have to stand on them to stop the car. It's scary and I won't drive the car until it is fixed. Has anybody had this problem before. Im going to flush the system to see if it helps, just as soon as I figure out how to flush the clutch at the same time. Any thoughts are appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Steve

Sounds like the vacuum servo for the brake assist. You may also have a leaking vacuum hose to the brake servo.

if it's not the hose than your diaprame is probably broken. Look for my thread, of my (by some discuted) repair.
Not advising to repaitr it yourself but it will give a clear view of the work

Sounds like the rear seal to the booster is leaking,I had the same problem.I'm still waiting on the rebuild kit I had to peice together.I purchased a spare master cylinder and forgot to install the rear mount seal, same problem. So I've taken off the spare and decided to rebuild both.Hope to have it back on the road in a couple of weeks.Holler if you need a master cylinder.Harry

Where is the "rear seal"? Is it on the side the booster connects to the master cylinder or on the left side the booster is connected to the pedal board?

btw: I had to buy a new booster and my car is up-and-running since last week... I just wonder...

Is yours a euro style car they might be the same, I don't know. Mine looks like somebody has played with this before and didn't know what they were doing. check the picture and see if it is the same. Notice coming in from the left there is a copper connection that isn't attached to anything. On the back or the reservoir there are two green wires that have been cut and they are just laying there. One more question, the two lines on the reservoir are they the point where you fill the fluid level too or do you fill it to the top?

I am curious to know where you got your booster from and how much did you pay. Was it a refirb or brand new.

I got it from http://www.dinoparts.de/EN/home/ but that was a really bad experience. I will post that in my booster thread...
Finaly I paid about 800 Euro for a new one but had to leave my old booster to them - at least dinoparts claims, its a new one, I have my doubt...

A better source in europe would be http://www.accorneroservofreni.it/servofreni/
I had them on the phone - very polite and they offered a new booster for 700 Euro

    Or try T.Rutlands

There is also someone who does refurbishment of ferrari boosters in the US but don't know an url...
