Hi all. My Cali went in for a service last year and I asked the main dealer to rectify the brake squeal which was apparent when braking in traffic. They refused to do it, saying it wasn't covered by warranty. I wasn't that bothered - it wasn't that bad - however it has now got worse and the wife complains (a lot) about it. Could someone please help me with some options here. Bear in mind I'm from Yorkshire and very tight fisted!

Brake noise on the first gen Cali is a well known issue. Check out some of the old threads.

Usual cure is some hard work for the brakes - saw the technical advice from ferrari once and it had several runs from say 50 or 70 down - then some cooling off. Works for a while. Cali t I guess has new generation as seem much better

Brake squeal is a sign that you are not having enough fun! It is really easy to get rid of the squeal ... one or two stops from 60 to 80 mph with your foot H A R D on the breaks, hard enough that the ABS has to work, and the squeal should be gone. After a '10 and a '12 Cali that squeal once in a while this always took care of it. My FF had the same trouble at times, always after many miles between taking someone out for their first Ferrari ride.

You won't hurt the brakes. You should see the Ferrari break in procedures for new brake pads! Very hard on the brakes, but you have to do that just to get the pads to work in the first place. I assume the factory does that on all new cars.

    Have fun with her!

That being said, my rear brake squeal started after I tracked my California30.
I'm guessing I'm destined for an expensive "squeal-remover."

In that case, look at the pads to see if they are down to minimum thickness. I tracked my 2010 Cali once at about 20,000 miles. 2.5 hours total on the Mid Ohio track. I went through at least half of the brake pad life that weekend. $3,000 for a set of rear pads only.

My first FF went through a set of REAR pads in 30,000 miles, no track time. The rears wear more than the fronts due to the traction control kicking in. With these the brake warning light came on. $3,000 for a set f rear pads only.

RB brake pads do not add Ferrari tax like dealers. You are paying the same price as WRX/EVO/MB/Infiniti owners.

Low dust and guarantee no squeaking in addition to low prices.

We offer two items to make your pad replacement/brake job easier:

If your car comes with Brembo calipers and track often I believe you are aware of how awkward it can be when it comes to changing your brake pads by removing the pin out and put it back after the pad is replaced.

We are introducing a new handy tool to end your frustration, so you can change your brake pads quickly w/o damaging your calipers. The following pictures should be self-explanatory.

    1. The pad pin punch:

These pictures are taken on the bench, you will appreciate its convenience even more when you replace the pads in a caliper attached to the spindle/upright.

This tool will make your switching/replacing the pad easy with more fun than frustration, so you would always use the right compound between track and street to preserve your brake pads for their optimal performance.
