Since I'm deep down the rabbit hole with "minor" fixes on my car, I am considering just free falling down the hole even deeper. After repairing/rebuilding a stock caliper that was sticking and replacing all the hoses with Goodridge SS items, I am thinking, just get the BBK now and be done with it. So, I've got some questions. I have a line on OEM calipers from a CS/430. First question is the calipers themselves. It appears that the aftermarket Brembo kit differs from the OEM calipers with a solid bridge vs. a removable pin across the pads. Don't know if this is just a stock photo or not, so is this the case and if so, are there any other differences between the calipers? By the time I source everything including new pads, SS lines, and 2 pc. rotors, I'll be in the same price range no matter which way I go. Any benefit to one or the other? Just for clarification, I'm looking at Brembo kits in 380mm fronts w/6 pot calipers, and 355mm rears w/4 pot calipers vs. OEM CS calipers with Griodisc 2pc rotors, Goodridge lines, and street pads.
When I did mine I sourced all oem big calipers, then I bought Hills engineering SS pistons and the seals. Then I bought Giro disc steel rotors and Girodisc pads. I'm guessing I have 8 to 9k into and that's with me doing all the work including painting the calipers
Pretty much where I figured the prices would be. Cost is a little more going OEM route, but I save on taxes over new kits. Just trying to figure out if one way is better than the other.
Wow those Girodisc rotors looks good. I have them on my Porsche. How do you keep them so perfectly “rust free”? In one pic I see you have rust so they aren’t zinc coated, and even when on my rotors with all the non-friction areas painted with hi-temp paint I get some rust dust after washing the car. That's just a film that I get after washing the car and not driving it. I'm very happy with them and that whole project I did. The old calipers used to be the smaller and red. It Transformed the car
