I notised during service on my 328 gts from 1987 that i have cracks on both my front brake discs. Is this a common problem? They are in very good condition exept the cracks.
Where can i get new brake discs for a good price or do anyone now if some other car have the same brake discs?
Is it the same on a 308?

Small cracks, right? If you run your finger over them, can you feel them?

The front brake rotors of my old 308 were cracked from the previous owner tracking the car. Small cracks in the rotors are usually associated with heat damage. My mechanic who worked on the 308 was pretty firm about replacing the discs, which we did.

Radial cracks (like spokes on a wheel) mean that the brakes cycled rapidly. Most common cause is applying extreme pedal pressure without warming the brakes, or going through a puddle with hot brakes. Small cracks are usually associated with cross-drilled brake rotors and start at the holes, usually no bigger than 1/2 inch.

Either way, you need to replace your rotors. I saw a set on Ebay, but they had been cut and were just barely over the min. thickness. If I were you, I'd get quality aftmkt (like Brembo or Porterfield from www.porterfield-brakes.com) and ask to get them Cryogenically treated. That process will reduce the succeptibility of cracking.

    Hope this helps!

I remember sometime back that Dennis Liu said this was a good source for Brembo rotors:
