Hello I am the very happy new owner of a 2010 458 Italia. Its my first F car and 4 weeks later I am still grinning like cat and I cant quite believe I've got it! One thing that is worrying me though is I seem to have a constant brake squeak, especially when hot and in town driving. The dealer is telling me that this is normal and nothing to worry about. Is this true? thanks George Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It is apparantly normal, mine did it when i bought it, it was going back in for a load of stuff and i moaned so much they did something and they dont squeak (as much) anymore.....no idea what they did but there is a cure.
Welcome and congrats! Mine squeak a little (barely noticeable with windows up) when (very) cold, usually first couple of miles after turning the key. When hot, not a sound. That's what's "normal" according to my personal Ferrari ownership experience, but that said it doesn't mean you have a problem. Kind regards, Nuno.
hi george, i am new owner also since 6 weeks, same color and rims as yours , but red calipers. brakes squeezes a bir when cold and slow driving and breaking, not when hard breaking. it seems that dust between calipers and brakepads can make the sound. this is nothing to worry about, no technical problem... enjoy... like i do a lot...
Welcome all new owners ( like myself since March ...) It is not normal and should NOT be heared. There are 2 or more threads here about HOW you should operate brakes the first time ... (don't know correct English terms), Please let somebody chime in and help ... Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is a common thing for high performance sport cars. The Steel rotor on my GTR had the same issue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This is VERY NORMAL. I have over 24,000kms on my car. I bought it new. Its a real PITA but it happens all the time. Some times when hot some times when cold. Its the make up of the carbon fibre ceramic brakes set up.
Some have them and some don't. It's carbon ceramic rotors. It happens. Have your dealer check it and they can fix it
Thanks for the feedback everyone. Seems to be very mixed responses, my dealer had told me about glazing and said I should try to use them hard to clear it. I will give that a go and if I'm still worried after I will ask them to take her in and check it. On a separate note though I have to say, I've been driving Porsches for years and always loved them. I never understood what all the fuss was about with ferraris, but wow! Now I get it!!
Use pressure washer and spray down the rotors and the calipers and good for a week with no squeak. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
