I had to replace my diffuser. It cost about $6,000; all one piece. The fiberglass repair option sounds good on what your photo showed, if you can live with it. The diffuser will get nicked. That's what thick magic markers are for

As others have said the diffuser is fiberglass and a separate piece that can be removed. It is also very much a consumable part under the car so it is a little excessive to insist on having the part replaced. A fiberglass repair and repaint can be a 100% perfect repair that is totally invisible and in no way affects the performance or value of the car. Yes it sucks and is unfortunate but rest assured that the diffuser will get damaged if you intend on driving the car.

Get a new one and keep the broken one, fix it, and keep it as a spare

In stock ready to go for about $3600. I’m guessing you could have it in your hands this week?

    (Confirm the part number)

If it’s like many other models it probably comes pre-finished so no need to paint? I’d call scuderia up and ask them to send your photos.

Of course the transport company wants you to repair- that’s the cheapest for them. I wouldnt accept that after spending a couple hundred grand on a new car. Let them replace it and they can hang the old one on their office wall :)

If the F8 is like the 458, then the transport company didn't take the necessary steps to make sure the rear diffuser doesn't hit the transport deck. When the vehicle is off, the suspension becomes softer (that's basically a fail-safe mode). When transporting my 458, the dealer uses a board under the rear tires to "raise" the back end of my car so when the car bounces during transport, the rear diffuser won't hit the deck. It's a function of the MagneRide suspension. The fluid is less viscous when the car is off (no current to "charge" the fluid - very simple explanation) and the car bounces more.

Regardless, I would demand a new rear diffuser. You didn't buy a "new" car to have it repaired.

New car , transport broke it , their fault.

To accept anything less than a new part is ridiculous.

Ferrari made this as a single part to streamline manufacturing. Something they have done on so many pieces.

Luckily its not a carbon piece.

This is why I can never recommend getting the rear diffuser in carbon. Gorgeous looking piece, but if you actually drive the car (outside of gentle trips on a freeway or to Cars and Coffee) it's only a matter of time before something very expensive happens.

As mentioned, the standard piece is just fiberglass and easily repairable/replaceable. People get so worked up over this, like it's body/paint damage or something. It's really no different than replacing or repairing a damaged wheel or tire. These are just cars at the end of the day.

Agree but IF the owner damaged it. He didn't and he shouldn't have to accept a repaired it. Thats the point.

Truck company buys a new diffuser , pays Ferrari for the install. One day

Oh I'd feel the same and want a new one through insurance. I'm referring more to people who think it is some amazing Ferrari part that only a special dwarf at the factory can possibly create. An Italian magical dwarf of course.

That diffuser does not look like it was damaged during transport. There are no scrape marks or anything on it... I think more likely damaged at the dealer or something.

Always a possibility. The dealer may not have even known that and they pushed it off on the transporter who didn't inventory it when he took it over. Or the dealer knew it and they pushed it passed the transporter who didn't look over the car good enough and got stuck with the claim. As I was in the transportation industry it was all too common for a shipper to try and put it over on the carrier.

Agreed. I met with the body shop owner that the local Ferrari dealership uses. He assured me that it can be repaired without any negative consequences. I decided to go that route. No insurance claim needed. Thanks everyone for your input, it was very helpful!
