Actually less if you buy it in France as they will refund the VAT on the way back to the US. My ex was big into Hermes and she could walk in to a store and get anything she wanted, unlike the luckless people who wait on line for hours hoping for a bag only to be told, "Sorry." They even did special orders for her. She cracked the code ... lol.
Hey guys the original MSRP is $15,300 plus tax if applicable. Yes you need a very long history and good relationship to purchase. I have been buying from the same boutique since 2013. Also, I have had no luck buying anything special from stores in EU. Just the off the rack stuff.
Why would anyone pay $25k dollars for $30 worth of materials. I thought this was a joke at first. Absolutely nuts.
Well, I will tell you a funny story. I once met a lady that manufactured "only the straps" in a dinky little town south of Lyon. Another made another component, and so on and on. Bottom line, there were 10 people in the production line at Hermes, or Vuitton, or ..... Then, an "Armoured" truck collected all the pieces and took them to a central location, where the end product would be assembled. No way out "Why would anyone pay $25k dollars for $30 worth of materials"? exclusivity my friend, only that. And it is about $300 worth of the finest materials. Regards, Alberto
Funny coming from a guy with the name "xpensivewino" Guessing you've paid too much for some juice in your life.....
Just to state the obvious.....you are basically asking for a $10k premium for someone to buy this bag from your fiancé. I can appreciate that it is Birkin but buying a 2024 bag for $15k and selling it for $25k a few months later is interesting. Good luck with the sale.
I don’t buy expensive wine either. Xpensivewino is the name of Keith Richard’s solo band which I’m a huge fan of. $15 bottle of Jack Daniel’s is my speed! lol
I get it. Seems like a lot of markup. BUT, remember rule number one: Add up all of your costs, add overhead, then mark it up to whatever you think the market will bear. If the market, outside of the exclusive world of direct access is $25,990 as the seller suggests, then this should disappear from the FC retail shelves relatively quickly. If it isn't, well, rule #2 is carefully mark down the price in steps until you find out what the market will bear. No harm in asking for $25,990, and no harm in not being willing to pay that, even if you want the bag. But if someone else is, then opportunity missed on what I assume is a pretty exclusive item. D
I read Jane Birkin (quite the dish back in the day) dropped her bag on an airplane and all of her crap spilled on the floor. So, they made this bag for her, less likely to spill. This was before Zip-Loc baggies.
Thank You sir! Yeah these are high in demand, and these are market prices. If you look even 7-8 year old used bags are going for more than the original sticker. Since its a Ferrari forum - if you had say a Pista would you sell it for sticker? Well said! Thanks for the background, that's new to me as well!
I just wonder if Birkin does the same thing Ferrari does when they find out you or your fiancé flip their products.
I guess someone could wait for one. Not really worth responding to; I'm sensing some trolling here. If you have any additional feedback, feel free to DM me, lets not clutter this thread.
Well, the seller ought to understand some jabbing may have been happening, given the thorough description. Possibly leaving the fiancée out of the story, perhaps less gilding the lily a spot or two... I.E. "Birkin bag for sale." Period. No trolling. Best of luck with sale Regards, Alberto
i was thinking this as well. if the watch manufacturers discover that the watch you just bought at msrp is being flipped by you for a profit, then you are no longer allowed to buy at msrp. like the car makers forbidding resale for a certain period. i dunno what happens if/when hermes figures out that brand new bags are being sold like this. but the op must know what he is doing. glws
