Ross Brawn has expressed some concern over the ever increasing calendar which he believes will stretch the teams to the limit if the trend continues. http://bit.ly/cLRdv1

It's because he is worried about his 41 year old driver being able to make it the whole year...And yes, I'm a MS fan so I might as well be the first one...have to have a sense of humor about it...

In all seriousness...I'd say 20 is just the right amount. He has good points, but your rewarded because its F1. Tough call. Me personally, I'd put the family life off a few years to live that life in a heartbeat. I know it's tough, but it's still F1.

Like stated in another thread, there are a lot of new races coming in the next couple years. So does that mean some MORE old races are gone? Or do they rewrite the rule so they can have more than 20 races?

I feel for the F1 teams, they have a hard job and are going full force the year round. Every race see's new developments and of course the cars are being developed over the winter. That takes a whole lot of time out of your day. I would hate to do that to my family, I'm all for new races and having a race to watch every other weekend or so but Ross is right, there comes a breaking point and I think we're reaching that threshold.

Seriously... I don't know how they do 18. It's a tough, tough job to do all this on the road all the time.

I would prefer fewer races at better tracks with looser rules, ANYTHING to break the boredom.

I read an article once - I will try to find it and post a link - that covered the logistics of packing up, moving everything and unloading it at each race venue.

    IT WAS INSANE!!

I believe there are Youtube videos floating around of the Williams team's whole logistical approach. It may have been from Inside Grand Prix or something. I'll try to find it.

Steve Matchett commented on this in the last F1 Debrief show - mostly about how the order doesn't make a lot of sense geographically. Instead of grouping races together regionally like Bahrain/Abu Dhabi or Canada/Brasil or Barcelona/Valencia to make things easier on the teams they're forced travel back and forth for no great reason.

Everyone who works in F1 knows what they've gotten themselves into. It's no walk in the park at all, people who think it was are quickly laid off by the team, simple as.

I have great respect for anyone in F1 as it must be one of the hardest jobs around, both physically and mentally.

Well, most of them are passionate about their job. So that's a major push here. Like someone mentioned above, I too, would leave all behind to accept that sort of job :) Not long term, but just to see how's it all done.
