I've noticed a significant improvement in gas mileage after a few thousand miles.
I was a bit concerned early on as I was getting really poor mileage- maybe 10-12 mpg. But now I think I am averaging around 18mpg. Don't know why exactly. Perhaps due to internal frictional losses?

Generally yes but frankly that seems like too big an improvement. Keep in mind that E 10 fuel is less volumetricly efficient than blends with less. Are you measuring the exact same fuel? In NY Winter Fuel is different from Summer fuel.

Did you or your significant other lose 200 lbs.?

Interesting. I have been thinking about posting on this too. I only have about 300 miles on my car in 1 week. I am less than 1/4 left on the second tank! I have been heeding the break-in period and (trying hard) not exceeding 5000 rpm. I too have been merely giving it time to see if it settles out. It runs great.

Hmmm. Let's hope your mileage will improve too.

Interesting point. I usually use the same Chevron station where I live in Malibu. I will ask next time about the Fuel formulation.

I agree with you about the improvement being too big for break in changes.

I'm wondering if software bugs might account for some of the fuel consumption fluctuations. I have heard that there is going to be a big software update in a the near future with some nice improvements.

I've filled my Cali twice and it has given me around 250 miles each time on a full tank of gas with some gas to spare. I'm guessing my gas comsumption around 15-16 miles per gallon.

With 4,300 miles I tend to get about 12 mpg although I only drive 3 miles to work so it is barely up to full temp when I get there ... and I am having way too much fun putting my fut into it ALL THE TIME. I did get about 19 mpg once driving from Toledo to Columbus, and still managed to plant my foot in it quite a few times.

I noticed once I hit over 1000 miles the car is getting better gas mileage. I think the big problem with driving the Cali everyday about 60 miles round trip in L.A. is i'm filling up at least two times a week. By the way when I leave in auto mood because im on the phone or in traffic it gets way better mileage because of the shift points....

I'm not sure if mileage is improving.

in my first 2 tanks i got 13 mph. no highway driving and lots acceleration on small, curvy roads. fun!!

in a 1000 mi trip on i95 from florida to maryland i got 18 mph at mostly 77mph with cruise control to stay out of trouble.

i got 15 mph this week commuting to work--mixed hwy and local roads. the nav system is great about warning you about traffic jams. i could get used to this!!
