With the recent surge in international travel we'll see 787 and 777 sales begin to surge.
Beyond that Boeing will sell Max's but only because airbus can only build so many 320's.

new engine tech is maybe 10 years out, with an expected 15% gain in fuel economy. It would be foolish for Boeing to develop a new plane before then.

777X certification delayed till late next yr (2023). This plane will be >3yrs late. I guess customers can still get the old 777, maybe at reduced prices.

Well prob few if any needed in 20-22 so by the time they start deliverign all should be good. As others have said boeing owns a huge chunk of the freighter market which is whats keeping them sort of going.

The company itself is a poster child for everything that goes wrong with bug corps run by finance.

No new songle isle developed 15 years ago, now cobbling together a long in tooth design for another decade or two, the max issues.
787, a plane supposed to snap together from components developed and built by subs. Way late way over budget, poor quality, and Boeing had to buy the subs to keep them and the plane afloat. There was not only no savings on that genius plan, it came out way overbiudget.
767 tanker, where to begin, so af using Boeing tankers from the 50's when they knew how to build/develop planes.
Starliner, 2x the cost of space x and years later still haven't launched humans into space.
Af1 with massive cost overruns and delays.
Air force trainer at 1/2 the price of anyone else, guess how that's going to work out.
Boeign keeps saying they learnbed their lesson here and there, pretty sad from a company that invented the modern jetliner and has been doing it longer than anyone else. Its like they lost generations of knowledge and ability.

Im just trying to see the positive. There is zero point in developing any new airliner now, its a wait to see the new power plants and regulation, so for a decade or so Boeings fleet will be what we see now..
The positive is Boeing can sell plenty of 737s simply because airbus cant produce very single asile aircraft thats needed. I think airbus is trying to get to 75 per month, Boeing maybe 1/2 that, but they both have backporders. If you need a new single aisle who can deliver sooner.
Once the twin aisle market recovers, which with international travel surging seems to be the case, Boeing has good product in the 787 and 777 and this is high margin areas. Plus they own the freighter market and thats just going to grow.

Maybe by 2028 there will be new eladership at Boeing and they will begin to develop a knockout next gen series of airliners. That future high effciency and even alternative fuel is going to be up for grabs.

I read two interviews, one with the airbus ceo and one with Boeings CEO. Airbus is lead by someone on their game, who knows aircraft and whats possible and for the futire.
The Boeing interview, the answers were all sounding like puff for wall street.

The value of old time experienced heritage employees and experienced and supported quality control people never went south, Then there was the skill dilution of transplanting a highly technical operation to a low skill and experience area to add to it . I know that they have been building other things down in South Carolina but the years of "building Boeing" isn't there. The corporate hand wavers and bean counters in Chicago haven't been helpful any more than the board of directors, either. The "foresight" of the big domes needed glasses. Again, the Boeing engineering staff did a beautiful job of design on the 787 but a crackpot manufacturing and business plan has hobbled it.

Yep, but so far all of the cost saving gimmicks have ended up costing more money.

When I was there, Boeing had everything figured out and set up to run well enough to successfully produce the best there was. Then came "the visionaries" who could get more profit by shortcuts, double-talk, and smoky workarounds that destroyed the company's integrity. Like they say, " If it ain't broke don't fix it.
