My friends and I are heading to Breckenridge on Sunday for one week. I am seeking the advice and recommendations from fellow Fchatters for bars/nightlife and other activites to look into while we're there. What about snowmobile rentals, are some places better than others? Have better machines?

We'll be snowboarding at least 4 of the days we are there.

    Thanks for any help.

    Jason,

I am in Breck right now and strongly recommend a place called Downstairs at Eric's for food. It's on Main Street near the corner of Lincoln. There's a bar as well and the place is always packed. Let me know if you want any other food recommendations.

Sorry, I can't help with snowmobiling.

    Thanks a bunch.

Yes, any food recommendations you have the better. Just trying to make the most of the trip while I'm there.

The Prospector for breakfast, and the Whales Tail for fine dining dinner. Both are on Main St and have been around forever, they're Breckenridge staples. My first trip the Whales Tail was in the 70's! Fatty's Pizza used to be pretty good, is on Ridge at Lincoln.

    Thanks Jim.

What do you mean "use to be pretty good"? ;)

Ditto what Jimpo says. Fatty's is still good although it's been a year since I was there. Also, another favorite is Empire Burger on the south end of town. Great burgers and sides with awesome dipping sauces. Nearby is the Breck Brewery. I'm not a drinker but they have their own brews that are popular. I like the food at both Eric's and Empire better.

Giampietro's at Main and Lincoln has very good Italian at reasonable prices. There's a mexican food place but since you are from Texas, I wouldn't bother. I don't think it's very good. There are quite a few upscale places but I don't frequent them because my kids don't appreciate them as much as I would. Some of them are very good though. The crepe wagon in the middle of town is fun for dessert crepes as long as the weather is decent.

    Have a great trip.

I rest my case about Texans coming to Colorado. ;)

Thank you for going to Breckenridge. They need the business. LOL

Breckenridge is doing well, actually. Massive infrastructure investments have continued. Real estate has slowed, as everywhere, but there are still high end sales. All is well.

Not sure I get the LOL - lots of Texans in the mountains.

Guys I greatly appreciate all the tips. It will help out immensely. I plan to report on my experience when I return.

bbs, Breck Brewery is on our agenda for sure.

LOL. I assume your Texas remarks is referring to the influx of CO visitors from TX during the winter, as well as lots of people moving there from Texas?

    You're welcome.

    He's joking.

    Thanks and Happy New Year.

I wanted to thank everyone again for the recommendations, I returned home last night from a one week stay in Breckenridge. We stayed at Beaver Run (ski in - ski out).

Our first night we ate at Downstairs at Erics. A 1.5 hour wait on a Sunday. Had a couple pitchers before being seated. Dinner was great.

We also ate at Breckenridge Brewery, which was decent. I had the fish and chips and can't complain. Fatty's Pizza (also recommended by family members that use to frequent Breck, was excellent). I believe we ate at Michael's Italian Saturday night, but am not 100% sure if that was the name. My chicken parmigiana was terrific.

Never got to eat at The Prospector (which I wanted to). Instead the group chose Blue Moose, I wasn't impressed.

Went into Frisco and rented Snowmobiles on Thursday, a day after a major snow storm. It was incredible. No guides, just rent and ride the trails. High performance is the way to go. ;)

Just wanted to thank everyone again for their input.

Who did you rent Snowmobiles from in Frisco? We have a condo there, and every so often look to do something other than downhill. We had snowmobiles as a kid in upstate NY, and it was really fun.

    Thanks,

    John
