Flavio is an insider, he should have a much better idea of what is rumor and what is not. I do not think MS is ready to retire until he hits that 100 race mark.

But then, Flavio is also a great BS specialist.

    Why would Schumi retire?

Think it through... his personality and lifestyle. Why would he do so now? What would he replace it with?

I believe he has said he plans on spending his retirement with his wife and kids. Kind of like just sitting back and enjoying what he has and what he accomplished.

I fail to understand why Flavio's opinion matters in this...

It is Michael's decision entirely whether he decides to race or retire

Flavio would have a better insight into the matter than anyone here. It's just his opinion but he would know better than we would.

But the point is that he would know nothing... just as much as we do... nothing.

This is Michael's decision... and only he will know!

There are no degrees between knowing and not knowing. It is either you know it or you don't. Flavio's opinion is just that...an opinion... that does not count!

Im just curious why would Michael even think about retirement?. He looks like he could go on to race for another 20years.

I think that if 2006 had been the same as 2005 -only one victory at Indy in controversial circumstances and Ferrari outclassed all year round, he would have retired.
I believe he carries on because there is still a chance for him to win races.
I don't think he is too bothered about championship anymore, but race victories.
If Ferrari declines and Shumi feels they don't have the edge anymore, he will be out like a shot. The man won't like to be a 'has been', unlike Villeneuve, Couthard.

I get the impression that he'll stick around until his son is old enough to get into karting competitively. ie, if he (and Ferrari) are doing well in F1 he'll stick around until his son is 8-10 years old. Just my $.02, but seems to fit his personality.

He obviously did not know him well enough... when Michael moved away from him to Ferrari.

This is Michael's decision... if my opinion counts he should stick it out to win 10 world championships... but my opinion is just that... an opinion... it does not count... It is in the end Michael's and only Michael's opinion that matters in this case!
