This is very interesting . . . . they want to SLOW DOWN the cars - more rules/regulations for what is suppose to be the "upper crust" of motor racing??

Bridgestone will happily accept a ban on tire warmers as a means of reducing speeds in Formula One next year, the Japanese manufacturer said. With Bridgestone being the sole supplier to F1 in 2007, it has been decided that tires should be the focus of cutting speeds, which have continued to rise this year despite the change of engine regulations.

A ban on the use of tire warmers will be put forward, while it is also thought tire testing could be outlawed.

Bridgestone released a statement saying: "Bridgestone is happy to accept the FIA's decision to reduce speeds in F1 for safety reasons.

"We have a good deal of experience producing tires that do not use warmers - for GP2, Champ Car, the IRL, Formula Nippon and Super GTs - but we would have to take this into consideration in the design of next year's tires.

"If tire warmers are used, we have to consider tire warm-up and particularly pressure drops in a safety car period."

Bridgestone will only supply two specifications of tires at each race next year. The specification of next year's tires has not been decided.

"Bridgestone is concentrating on development of this year's competitive campaign."

Bridgestone is an ethical company that has serious concerns over the safety and well being of racers, track officials and race fans.

This is not about controlling development. This is about reversing the wrongs done thanks to Michelin's unethical practices in the name of competition. Safey First... BAN MICHELIN!

Don't warmer tires stick better? Why not restrict the engine output and let them use the tire warmers to ensure maximum traction?
