I'm wonderin' if there's method behind his madness at NOT pulling it out, cleaning it up, and showing it?
back to $100k+ by buyers with lots of good feedback. he has removed his explanations for the canceled bids. basically, he is showing the car for a deceased friends mother. here are some pics of 08086 for history sake Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
let's say you set $75k aside for full redo based on what we have seen. that should bring a high sales price for a fresh dino. on a true "barn find" what else is there?
$115,100 with 2 hours to go. Is this car really worth this kind of coin? I'm just a lowly 328 owner, but looking at these pix and reading the sellers answers about 'no showings' and all... I just don't understand why the bid is going so high? I mean, given the sellers lack of info, how would a buyer know it wasn't 139,000 miles instead of 39,000? Forgive my newbie-ness - I'm just trying to understand the dynamic here... what would a 'good' 246 go for? A 'good garage find' 246? This one just looks SO ROUGH to me... Thanks Jedi
But on the positive side, maybe it's someone with bottomless pockets who will bring this Dino back to concours condition and save her from the dustbin she's been living in with the previous uncaring hack of an owner... very possible that price didn't matter. Jedi
Agreed. I was lucky, mine was in the sort of condition omgjon's (complete with all books/tools etc) was in when I restored mine. If the purchaser visits Fchat, he can draw information (and inspiration) from omgjon's excellent restoration and subsequent web site.
Right On! Great price if it runs and he wants a driver. Reasonable price if he wants to sell it some day. Hope he, or someone else, lets us know what the true condition is. Be nice to know the story from here on out. Would love to have pictures as it rolls out and on the truck. Any snoopy FChatters in Los Gatos? John
You guys are the experts! LOL! Man, just hard to believe these cars have gone this high in the market...I recall one coming out of River Oaks to the closest car lot on Sheperd Drive........IIRC around $60K, five or six years ago. I thought "that's a lot of money, besides look there's a DENT in it!" Then bought another 308GTB.... Congrats on your forecast wspeer! Spot on!
Heck of a guess wspeer! lol btw...I'm in both camps. Too much money, but not a bad price for a driver? Yeah, that's I believe that's right.
that's 04274, that i now own. the dent was sent to be repaired and the kids at the body shop decided to joy rod and dropped a valve. over to jrv it went and we know the story from their (see the murder/candice mosler thread). that was march 2001. owner was firm on his price of "high 70's", i said high 50's
the guess was based on what a car that was looked at and determined to be in decent condition. frankly, i am surprised THIS car hit the number due to the "no showings" attitude of the seller (even if it was for a friend). there have been quite a few dino's sold under the radar for similar prices, which is where the number came from. i agree, based on what great dino's are selling for, you can't make this car great for the spread in price
Fast forward 6 months and into the current economic downturn. Does anyone think $125k could be attained today?
