Hello all - happy to be making my first post. I've been lurking for a couple of years as I research a 348 purchase.

I think I might have found the right car for me, a well maintained '91 TB - but it's in Calgary and has a Capristo exhaust, with no cats.

Any chance this will pass Ontario's new emissions tests? I don't know how the pre-ODBII cars are tested now - still a tailpipe sniff? Rollers or no? (My '91 911 has a "new" engine and full cats - so it passed no problem)

Will a non-cat 348 pass? If not - any sense of what would be needed to make it "clean"?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Check the Drive Clean info that is on the website; if you google it you'll find it. Pretty sure for a pre-obd 2 car it is a 2 speed idle test (tail pipe sniffer). Oh, the other important thing is that you must have all the emission equipment that came on the car, and it must be working. This is the law no matter what the emission status of the car is. Pretty sure you will be putting a cat on the car. Of course some people put a cat on just for the test and then replace it with a "test pipe"; not legal, but chances of getting stopped for a roadside test are slim.

Although it depends on the shops discretion if you will need cats or not to pass the out of province inspection, you will definitely need then to pass the Emissions testing.

Thanks guys - also spoke to Rocco in Toronto who confirmed the need for cats to pass.

So - I'm on the hunt for a pair of cats for a 348. My mind is open - either a used set of OEM's or a pair of high performance cats would be great.

Where do folks source used parts in Toronto? I know all the Porsche sources - none of the F-car places - thanks in advance!
