Watching the shocking news coming from London I wonder whether this will have any knock on effect on the British GP.

I remember how the USGP was in question after the 9/11 attacks, but took place nevertheless with slightly beefed up security.

These attacks are a barbaric act showing no respect for human life. I hope that the people of London can overcome this shocking event! I hope that the people affected recover soon and the casualties are lower than what the media is claiming. I hope that life returns to normal as soon as possible and the Silverstone GP goes ahead.

Flights to London Heathrow and Gatwick have not been cancelled. Underground public transport within the city of London is at a complete halt. The teams and equipment should have arrived yesterday. The drivers should be there today. I hope that the Silverstone GP goes ahead to show that terrorists cannot take away our way of life!

That's precisely what happened at the USGP after 9/11: Some limited bag search. I remember how people were uneasy about the GP, but I always thought, that a F1 race is simply not a terrorist target. Too narrow a focus, not really a global event like e.g. the Olympics.

We went to the USGP that year and had absolutely no problems at all.

Yes but these attacks are very close to the time of the race, the USGP organizers had a couple of weeks to plan for the extra security. The British GP organizers don't have this luxury. I hope it comes off without a hitch.

The only terrorists at the GP are the fools that run it!

The thing you have to remember is that anytime something horrible like this happens, people start speculating about where the next strike will be and when. All of a sudden, any place that two or more people congregate is a target for terrorism. I hate to say it, but my guess is that the next tragedy will be back in the States.
