Thing is, everyone in F1 is participating. Every driver, team members and so on. Ex drivers showing up.

It's Britains home GP, and Elton doesn't turn up. He keeps saying how his fans are the best, but he doesn't even give a **** about doing this. Poor showing.

Can you imagine if they did the same in Holland, with Verstappen the only driver not showing up? He'd be vilified.

Well, that's his choice and I respect that. Who cares if the others drivers came. So what?

London isn't the home of the British GP, that I know.

And anyway, since when the British GP needs to be promoted? It's almost always a success.

The trouble is that people see things in one dimension only.

Ham isn't bright enough to do something like take a stand against london in favour of Silverstone. He's agenda was selfish. End.

    Hahaha...seriously???
You think Lewis is not attending to "make a stand against Liberty"???
You must be joking...The guy who uses all social media to get attention is all of the sudden the true traditionalist who wants to keep "exciting" Silverstone against a flashy London show???
The guy who lately opens his mouth before switching on his brain in the morning decided to "make a stand" rather just following his mood of the second??? Yeah right...
Next week he will not attend the press conference to make a standing for world peace ;)

    So, what is his crime?

    Taking a few days off?

I think you are rather exaggerating here.

The only ones who can take issue with his choice is his employer.

I don't think his attendance in London is mandatory, so it's his choice IMO.

But some people here like to have a dig at every occasion.

    This one-sided attitude become tiresome.

    So what?

This demonstration closed part of London and created chaos all day.

There is nothing to rejoice here.

Just the new mayor of London flattering his ego, and Liberty using that as a leverage to force Silverstone to accept their conditions. That makes the headlines here.

I hope that no British GP is ever run in London, and good luck to Silverstone showing 2 fingers to Liberty!!

I'm quite surprised to see Vettel so well received in the UK actually. Many not pleased about the other one...

You can be all upset about the chaos it caused in London, that's not the debate. Or do you think Lewis didn't show up in support of people who had their commute disrupted?

I'm not a fan of Sadikh AT ALL, he's a monumental **** but I don't want to get political.

Like I said, you only see one thing : Hamilton wasn't there, so what a good occasion to have a pop at him, eh?

I don't care about Hamilton; I see the big picture in this story.

It's about Silverstone under threat, Liberty flexing its muscles and Saddiq Kahn having a jolly.

We may lose the British GP, and that's far more important that Hamilton's no-show.

LH always claiming British and trying to be the Queen's son is such ****ing bull****. He should have begged to have a massive role in this event. Hated him before, despise him now.

William, good Sir, you CANNOT be serious.

I totally get not wanting a London GP, though I would go to it lol, but this was not taking a stand in ANY WAY. If it was his social media would be loaded with it.

Not me, even Sky are having a go!

The whole silverstone thing was only announced a week ago. Do you truly believe that the shutdown of London, getting all drivers, teams, media...EVERYTHING, was sorted within a week? Let alone on a back-to-back GP weekend?

I really don't get why people are so irritated by Hamilton not participating in a promo in London.
    Has he broken any rules?
Did he have any contractual obligation to be there?
What's the biggie? Is it so important?
Hate him? despise him? Do you want to kill him too?

Or is it just another angle to attack the guy.

I am approaching 70, and believe me, the guy is certainly not my cup of tea, but I find that persistence in denigrating at every occasion utterly ridiculous.

Try to grow up and only hate what's important in life!

It's not that. He plays up his British heritage Heavily, one thing I actually like about him, and then doesn't attend an event like this essentially saying IDGAF. That's the part I dislike. I like when any athletes make their country matter. I love that the Premier makes teams allow players to play for their nation depsite the season going on.

I also despise NBA players that don't play for the olympic team for example. This is not just down to LH but the greater scope. One shouldn't have to be contractually obligated or ruled to have to go.

Also this. The SOLE absentee. Give me a break.

Of the 20 regular drivers on the F1 grid this year, 19 attended today's event. Reigning champion Nico Rosberg and former champion Jenson Button came as well.
The sole absentee was Lewis Hamilton, who could not be bothered to attend notwithstanding that today's event was held as part of his home race, the British GP which will take place this weekend.
Lewis did however find the time to tweet that, instead of coming to London today to enthuse thousands of fans, he was taking a two-day "break".

But what is your beef with Hamilton, for goodness's sake?

Did he promise to meet you in London?

    Did he owe you something?

Can't the guy lead his life as he wants, or does he has to ask you?

I just can't get the hatred here. It's childish.

Again, doesn't answer my question, does it? Do you believe that F1/London could've organized this entire event within a week? This event is not in response to Silverstone's threat, it's Liberty actively getting fan engagement going. And from what they've done today....they've done a HUGE job! Well done.

Elton is a funny guy, he first bemoans the sport for not getting to do fan engagement, and when it's organized properly, he's the first and only one to fly out far away!

Well, this is where you and me differ fundamentally.

I am no patriot, and country don't matter to me.
