Well, it's only PR, and I am not into PR; it doesn't interest me one bit.

I live in London, and even went for a walk in the centre yesterday; We couldn't understand why the traffic was diverted. We missed the prior announcements (if there were any) about that event. We found out later when we went home. I wouldn't have gone there if you had paid me anyway; I don't like crowds of onlookers. Probably there were many curious, but F1 fans, I don't know.
If you offer something for free, you are bound to have curious coming; that doesn't mean they are interested.

It's not the first time they do a demo in central London, but this year, it's in the mist of controversy about Silverstone. I think their announcement cut the grass under Liberty's feet, so to speak!

Going back to your post, I couldn't care less if his fans desert Hamilton. I find it funny really, this personality cult being so alien to my own ethos. It's so media oriented these days that everything is distorted; they make a fuss about what is meaningless, and completely ignore what's important. It's comical really, it really is ...

Although I tend to agree with you we have to face reality: the days of Moss and Clark are gone, no matter how you miss them...F1 is a business and business is about an image rather than reality very often. We all agree that the drivers do not get all that money just for driving the car but for representing their employer and sponsor. And looking just at that Lewis certainly did not do himself any favour prior to further negotiations at any team as it just showed once again that he actually does not care...

I don't do twitter, FB and other social media, so I don't know what the guy pretends to be. That doesn't interest me.

I see him only as a talented driver, a 3-time WDC and one of the most successful of his era. And there may be more to come!
He isn't an angel on the track, that's for sure, as demonstrated with Rosberg!

Outside his car, the guy is weird by my standards, and I am completely disconnected with that generation. Rapp, tattoos, piercing, fashion, necklace, etc....

I suppose that most of his interactions with the public are stage-managed, so I don't pay attention in what he says, and never read or watch an interview. It's all bloody PR, so you can call the London "incident" a PR failure.

Problem is Kimi has had the same attitude from day 1, he's always shunned the public eye, journo's.

You can't open your life for 10 years to everyone, say you want more fan interaction and then suddenly pretend you want a life like Kimi.

Nah. I think Ferrari can win here on merit. Fast corners should suit our car and we're bringing an engine upgrade.

Report from Daily Mail speculating on underlying reason Lewis was absent from London - Mercedes vying for Vettel?

Lewis Hamilton rages as Mercedes woo Sebastian Vettel | Daily Mail Online

The plot thickened around Lewis Hamilton’s extraordinary non-appearance at Formula One’s promotional event in London on Wednesday night after it emerged that his Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff was a guest at championship rival Sebastian Vettel’s 30th birthday party.
Wolff’s attendance at Vettel’s at-home celebration in Switzerland is all the more surprising given that the party took place between the Azerbaijan Grand Prix — at which Vettel rammed Hamilton off the road — and the FIA hearing into the collision the following Monday.
It is conceivable that Wolff’s decision to attend Vettel’s shindig is key to Hamilton’s apparent disgruntlement with his team — a situation seemingly so bad that it played a part in his staying away from Trafalgar Square on Wednesday night.

Exactly. Get ready for his trademarked "just want to thank all the great fans" speech at Silverstone. Such a clown.

It is interesting that the Mercedes-powered teams are the only ones where things go completely according to plan...So the engine is not just the strongest but the most reliable at the moment...

Helps if you have an extra year of development by having a ready engine doesn't it? And then have the development freeze for ~2 seasons...;)

I'm frankly amazed we still haven't had a wet SGP race yet. It rains often there and hard. Been close a few times (night before the race, or just after it's finished...) but never on the day.

During the dry it's always right on the cusp of 2 hour limit, you're correct it'll definitely be a ~40 lap race with SC's
