Does anyone else think the final round of qualifying should be 5 minutes on low fuel? The other 15 minutes are pretty boring, I caught myself starting to dose off till it got exciting.

Anyway I hope Ferrari are at least heavier than FA on fuel otherwise its going to be a tough race. MS didn't look so pleased during the interview, I hope that doesn't mean he isn't heavier.

I agree it is boring, but as the TV commentators said, it really is for the folks at the track to see the cars.

Often enough I have attended GPs and waited 55 minutes to watch a couple Minardis and then there was total chaos. That was nuts and I'm glad the rules force the cars on the track.

I'd go even further and would like to see a rule change that affects Friday: Get rid of the 2 race/engine rule and/or introduce a similar rule as qualifying that forces the cars on the track on Friday as well. Currently as a spectator there is little incentive to attend Friday.

Whoever thinks Alonso is lucky is nuckingfuts...The guy is the real deal and I wish he had signed for Ferrari instead of McLaren. Lets hope for a great race tomorrow.

    Absolutely NOT!!!

While it may not be exciting until the last 8 minutes or so... It's not boring.

If you want to see boring... pay admission to see a quali session and stare at an empty track.

Personally, I think they should do away with all this 1 engine rule garbage. this would encourage more on track time during the practice sessions. better for the fans. (I don't subscribe to the theory that this rule saves money)

Edit: The current qualifying format is the best it has been in years. don't mess with it!

Great to see my three favorite drivers close to each other and on the pointy end of the grid. I feel Michael has a bit more fuel than the other two. Kimi was the quickest in the last two sectors while Alonso was the quickest in sector 1. Kimi thought it was because he was carrying more downforce than the other two - less outright speed.

    Sector times:
    SECTOR 1
    1 Fernando Alonso 25.166
    2 Michael Schumacher 25.237
    ...
    7 Kimi Räikkönen 25.524

    SECTOR 2
    1 Kimi Räikkönen 34.522
    ...
    4 Fernando Alonso 34.725
    5 Michael Schumacher 34.734

    SECTOR 3
    1 Kimi Räikkönen 20.204
    ...
    4 Fernando Alonso 20.304
    5 Michael Schumacher 20.369

    SPEED TRAP (Km/h)
    1 Michael Schumacher 293.6
    ...
    3 Fernando Alonso 289.3
    ...
    7 Kimi Räikkönen 286.5

Hope Kimi wins - poor guy has been denied a win for far too long. :)

Well The Boy Who Cried "Block" (DC) is apparently going to be at it again.

So will we know before tomorrow what FIA will change the qual results to?

(In eight races, only one qualifying session stood without FIA changes (Imola))

Yeah, I think it's gotten better, but like Andreas said, they need to get rid of some things. The 2 race/engine rule is stupid. I'm not wild about this fuel load game, either. Like the engine rule, it lends an artificial manipulation aspect to the racing. If they want cars on the track, then devise some sort of points system that pertains strictly to qualifying. Teams could be rewarded by running more laps. And if you blow an engine, you will be naturally penalized by lost running time.

Remember the initial reports that Schumi had been cleared in Monaco?

These days, there's no telling for sure. It really annoys me that you can watch qualifying or the race live, and still not know the results for certain, because FIA might decide that the V10s aren't allowed to get points, or the race might be more interesting with a contender at the back, or the japanese cars aren't supposed to be near the front of the championship or some such.

Heck, BAR had been cleared by the track officials before FIA decided to whack them with a three race suspension.

I never liked playing poker with too many wild cards.

I wondered what happened to Button, and it seems the team took a calculated risk, choosing to go out relatively late in the first session, and Button was immediately called in for a random weight check. By the time that was done, there was no time for a fast lap. With 15-min sessions, a random weight check can really wreak havoc.

Neither was Shovlin (JB's mechanic). He only does what he's told.

Fry's in charge, he's the CEO and they made a big mistake with JB.

If Willis is TD, then he has the same responsibility as Brawn and Symonds for determining Q and R strategy. He made the strategy mistake and Fry should step up and accept responsibilit, basically stick up for JB.

The Ferrari's have set the highest trap speeds the last few races haven't they? At least we know the car's aren't slow, lets see what they can do with them tomorrow.
