It was Donington, but yeah, he's not a huge fan of the circuit owners - The BRDC - They're one of the very few who seem able to stand up to his shenanigans and still fill the grandstands..... 125K people expected on Sunday!

    They are telling folk not to go tomorrow (Sat);

    http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/100977

Yes it is, but 40mm (~1.5" in old money) in 12 hours is almost unheard of. We were used to muddy parking lots & camp sites - All part of the "aura" of the place! ;)

But this rain is biblical by "normal" standards. I'm a little surprised the new "underground" pit complex hasn't disappeared into the lake as yet - If it keeps coming they'll be in all kinds of trouble.......

    Cheers,
    Ian

I guess the choppers are still flying - I'm pretty sure that if the medi-vac unit is grounded the whole thing is cancelled - One of Prof Sid's mandates IIRC.

Hopefully, it'll clear up tomorrow and be the archetypal "British summer day" come Sunday...... The traffic and mud will still suck, but they are trying their best it seems.

    Cheers,
    Ian

    New Piellis?
    Why?
Everyone was saying that the old ones were working just fine.

Alonso is leading the drivers championship and many here don't think he'll finish in the top 5.

The odds are he will be a top finisher IMVHO.

Good thing I didn't read Ian's post about the traffic advisories before I left this morning! ;)

Left the hotel at 6, joined the queue at the off-ramp to Silverstone at 6:40, was parked in a hard surface lot at 7:20 am. It's cold, overcast, windy, but no rain at the moment. It could be a loooong day!

I'm sitting in the Club grandstand right now, waiting for P3 to start in a fewminutes.

I didn't hear any helicopters flying yesterday, and the ceiling was so low that I was wondering if they'd be able to run the F1 cars because of the medi-copter requirement.

Ian, my grandmother's family (surname Peach) emigrated to Canada in June 1912, 100 yrs ago (they sailed from Southampton 2 months after Titanic), so i doubt anyone would know of them now The house is on West End Road though.

Any news on tires yet? I really do think if the rain continues (which it will) they WILL run out of tires during the race. Most are compensating by barely running yesterday and today, but they'll use a full set today and will need 2 tomorrow at least I reckon. Which is more than their allowance...!

Understatement of the year right there I suspect!?...... Hopefully you stuck it out and enjoyed it as much, or more, than we did! When they run, they're kinda fun in the wet IMO.

    +1

Even a little before the MIL's time I'm afraid!

    Here's the latest from Silverstone;

    Enjoy the race,
    Cheers,

No offense but only the Brits would have a business plan that involved asking people NOT to attend.

    :D

Not only that, but they're giving refunds too. [I'm not sure how you "prove" you didn't make it, but that should ease the pain a little if you were screwed in traffic and/or took their advice re Saturday?]

Hopefully everyone will get in OK tomorrow & the weather will "behave" - WTF that may mean! ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian

If one went through a great deal of trouble and/or expense - say flying in from the US or Australia - I don't think a ticket refund will make that person happy. I agree that selling someone a ticket and then asking them NOT TO ATTEND is the most assinine thing on earth.
It's pathetic logistics like that that cost Imola its place on the GP calendar.

Understood - But note I didn't say "make 'em happy", just it would ease the pain a little.......

In fairness, and even the Pygmy has come to their defense (!), what could they have done? Sure, we know it can rain anytime there, but not in that amount! Some folks are homeless.....

    Cheers,
    Ian

Based on the (Groucho) Marxian economic concept of the ten cent nickel.
Use it to buy a five cent newspaper and get the same nickel back in change.
Stockman rebadged it as Reganomics ;)
