Recently I can only signal left, the indicator doesn't engage properly when trying to signal right. The hazards still work, as does signalling right sometimes so I'm guessing I need to change a switch or something on the steering column.

Can anyone tell me which part it's likely to be? I've done a fair bit of Googling for similar issues, and browsed some parts diagrams but can't find a likely suspect.

    Thanks.

edit: Sorry, should have said, this is a '95 355.

Unfortunately the electrical stuff is all on one big assembly (159411 I think) - in the USA Verrell can rebuild them - someone must in UK since probably unobtainable part

Hey Tom; I had a similar symptom but on the wiper side. There was little resistance between speed selections; would drop to full speed when I would hit a bump on the road or when trying to select a wipe speed. I removed the steering wheel housing and after disecting the mechanics behind the lever I discovered the arm that activates the wipers wasn't engaging a secondary lever. I married the levers and now near perfect resistance between speed selections. It doesn't sound like you have an electrical problem as you mentioned your lights behave when the hazard button is activated. Sounds like a mechanical issue within the lever area. Give it a look before you spend any money for what could very well be an easy fix.

    Joe...

I hade the same turn signal issue with my 355. I pulled the steering cover off (3-4 screws on the bottom side ). I found there was a rubber "dust shield " around the stalk, it had a kink in it and prevented the turn indicator stock from fully engaging. Removed kink and no more issue.

Thanks guys, I'll try to dismantle it when I get some spare time early next week. I'll also try to take some photos for people coming across this in future.

I took my old 348 apart and did manage a fix by inserting a new tube to click over. Cant for the life remember any details. But if I managed it cant be too hard!

I agree, 1st thing is to get access to the switch & see if there is an easy fix.

BTW, Eurospares.co.uk has the 159411 NEW for: £298.27 Each
    Approx €360.

That's about the same price as the used one on eBAY.

Thats a lot of incentive to fix yoruself first!

When I did it there was some forum help I found may have even written a thread about it, but was 4/5 years ago!

So I tried to take it apart this morning. I found and removed all the screws (including the dash pod ones) but it wouldn't come off! I didn't want to force it and as I was taking the car in to my specialist for a service anyway I've just asked them to look at it.

    Man points deducted.

Turns out it was the relay so I couldn't have fixed it mysel. Well, not without buying the part anyway. Had it replaced (forgot to ask what part was used) for the princely sum of £58.31 + VAT.
