    Catchy title. Boring subject.

    Just out of curiosity, how many of you 348 folks have shiny aluminum oil caps, with the Ferrari script on them? What about your gas cap?

    My car has/had boring plastic covered caps on both the fuel and the oil. There was no script on them at all. Anyway, I was feeling lonely today so I went to visit my 348 in the Intensive Car Unit (ICU) at SportAuto. Yeah, we needed to pull back the oxygen tent and all the stuff. Poor thing.

    Anyway, I took a brand new/super blingy 360 dipstick and compared it to my boring 348 one. The shaft is quite different. As you'd expect, us 348 guys have a shorter shaft, but it's much firmer. The 360 shaft is longer, but thin and kind of floppy. I think I'm digressing. The threads between the two caps is identical and the rubber gasket inside the caps is identical. With a simply twist of an 11mm(?) wrench, I disassembled both and easily put the bling cap on the 348 dipstick. Now, it looks great! I have seen lots and lots of 348's with the bling oil cap. What caps are on your oil tanks? ferrarioldman assures me that most early 348's shipped with the boring caps. Have most of these been chucked in the garbage by now?

    The old cap never burned my hands. I suspect this puppy is gonna get smokin' hot.

    My car came with the Stradale (?) aluminum dipstick & gas caps. I thought all Spiderscame like this, but looks like I got lucky :)

    My 355 has the shiny ones. Which is a good thing since they are 280 bucks. I'm considering that money saved right now since those would be a must have item if I had black plastic ones.


    On another note Daniel I sent a few emails up there and didn't get a response. Did I get banned from Ricambi??

    I think I'm going keep the 328 for now, thanks.

    Back on topic: the metal oil cap in the 308/328 gets damned hot. I use shop gloves (that cover hand and wrist) when opening it, and also when checking oil levels, because the dipstick is a bit of a reach over the engine.

    my oil stick is metal, very firm, longer, and thicker than the one shown in the pic, although hard to tell length from the picture. also gets darn hot. :D

    That picture is enough to get banned.

    I think it was about 65249196. It's a carpet set. I've switched gears the last few weeks and have been dealing with the Porsche while the leather on my 355 seats was being replaced. I'll send that email again.


    I was about to post on here and see if anyone else has been able to get the molded carpet set for a 355. The dealer can only order them in black.
