The legendary 'Senna' name could return to Formula One sooner rather than later.

It is reported that Gerhard Berger, Ayrton Senna's former team-mate, may be considering giving a seat to his late friend's nephew, 22-year-old F3 driver Bruno.

Bruno Senna, who was just ten when his uncle died at Imola in 1994, is now a race winner in the British F3 category.

Even more intriguingly, Senna has travelled this year to some key spots on the formula one calendar, including Melbourne and Bahrain. He will probably appear in a Monaco support race.

Moreover, there is now a strong rumoured link between the young Senna and Berger, a part-owner - with Red Bull magnate Dietrich Mateschitz - of Toro Rosso.

Berger said: "Bruno reminds me of Ayrton a lot - both in appearance and his mind.
    "

Germany's Bild publication suggests that Bruno could be fast-tracked to Formula One either later this year or for the 2007 season.

Senna confirmed to the newspaper that he is indeed determined to follow down his uncle's road.

"I want to be World Champion," Bruno Senna said. "In my family, we do not do things by half."

I was wondering how long this would take. I think it would be great to see another Senna on the grid, along side another Rosberg and, probably soon, another Prost and Piquet. I think it's safe to assume he won't rival his Uncle Ayrton in talent, but I do hope he can be successful when the time does come. The amount of scrutiny that will fall at his feet will be tremendous, albeit it unfair, and that is something I hope he will be prepared to deal with at the top level.

Also, how about Gerhard Berger? I love that he's still involved in F1, and that he's looking out after Senna's interest. He's probably the only team principal who I wouldn't suspect of manipulating a famous name to promote his team's profile.

His uncle never did drove for Ferrari, I think he was one of the few drivers that ever turned Enzo down after being offered a seat. If he proves that he has what it takes to make it in F1, wouldn't it be great to finally have the Senna named link to Ferrari? I hope he makes it to F1 and challenges for the title in the future.

I never watch the support races when I'm in MC for the GP, but if Senna's nephew drives in the Porsche Supercup race (or whatever), I'll have to make an exception!

He turned them down but only because the team was in total disarry at that time. If i remember the quote correctly he said something along the lines of it's every racing drivers dream to drive for ferrari and he talk to them again when the car was better.

His girlfriend even said that once Senna's Williams contract was finished he was on his way to Ferrari. Jean Todt said they were offering him the same contract Michael got in 96. Back on topic it would be great if Bruno gets into F1. I here Prost's son is quite a talented lad as well. Great to see these next generation drivers competing.

I remember reading that too, that Ferrari was debating over who they should try to pursuit, MS or AS.
