Hi Folks, Carrying on a long tradition, Bruno Mazzarella has kindly invited NWRFCA members and their families to attend his annual birthday bash at his beautiful home on Camano Island on Sunday, August 22. Bruno loves Ferraris and uses his large, water-facing lawn as a display area for our cars. As usual, Bruno will be cooking pasta for everyone but has requested that guests bring a salad, side dish or dessert to round out the meal. The party will get started at about 1 pm. Expect singing, dancing, fabulous food and a very warm reception from Bruno, his family and friends. The party is always a great time! Since this is a public forum I am not going to post Bruno's address or the directions to get there. An email with that info will be going out to the member list later today. If you are a member and don't receive that email by tomorrow, please email me off list and I'll get you the directions. Thanks! - Will
I was wondering if we were going to do that this year. Worried maybe Monterey might interfere. Looking forward to it! I would be happy to work up a slightly indirect, but interesting drive to Bruno's for those interested.
Yeah...was in with Carlo today for the oil change and he mentioned it. Kinda bumbed, be outta town. Sounds like fun though, Dana, be sure to keep me there in spirit with the "bling bling"
More than likely a meet at Northgate for the run north. Last year the group stopped at exit 208 for a little jaunt through the twisties on the way out to Camano. I have a better route figured for this year that should only add a half hour or so.
Alright, I'll ask: For us somewhat new guys this year, are there more details about this event? e.g., Have I met Bruno at any of our events this year? Who's invited? etc... - thx - Tim
It's Brunos birthday, he likes Ferraris in his front yard, we are invited to celebrate with food and laughter. Bring a side dish, he'll provide the main course. Show up HUNGRY. It can be fun getting there I recall side dishes consisting of, finger food, veggie plate, casserole, cookies, pie, cake etc.........I brought shrimp cocktail platter. As far as I know everybody in the club is invited. I can't say if Bruno has appeared at any events this year. (Correct me if I am wrong, Bruno is a friend of Carlo and Lino Durante?)
Bruno is from the same little town in Italy as Carlo & Lino Durante (Alfa of Tacoma) and Pasquale Perrina (FoS). I believe they all went to the same school together. He also owns "Bruno's Italian-Mexican Restaurant & Pizzeria" in downtown Seattle.
I might have to try and make this one. That is if I don't have to work and if I can get the car back down off the jackstands by then!!
I was doing the same thing last year with mine. Dropping it off of jacks at 10:00 the night before each drive or event. Hope you can make it.
I hope so too!! I dropped the "diaper" and got it straightened out but I think it was powder coated (not very well either) and trying to get it all cleaned up and ready to paint has been a Major headache. A buddy of mine has a sandblster he thinks it might fit in? I kinda doubt it but I hope so!! Got the new shocks but the springs are on backorder so that whole job may have to wait, even though that's why I put it on the stands to begin with. It's been about a week and I'm starting to go through withdrawls.
I stripped the diaper on mine chemically. Still took some elbow grease. I tried an automotive satin finish and didn't like it so I went went Krylon semi-flat. Works great. Hope those springs come in soon.............
John, You could also just ditch the diaper like Stewart C. did on his car, and run with a smaller custom metal plate/cover. There was a guy making and selling them on eBay. Not sure if he still is or not. Gary
Chemically huh, I hadn't thought of that yet. The smooth sections and the perforated sections aren't bad it's just those darn louvers that are hard to get into and around. I don't think the springs are suposed to ship until the 21st so the car will go back together before then and If I can get away form work I'll be at this event!! I remember seeing that but haven't seen it in a while (I liked the look of it too!). That would be a good idea because mine won't ever be prefectly straight. I'll keep looking while I'm working on this one though! Gotta go finish my last wheel well.
I had some paint work done by Peter Emhoff on my previous 308...he was able to fit the cover in his blaster box...he used some sort of media other than sand...said the original paint (mine was still original) was a very thick, soft, almost vinyl like paint product. He said it was very stubborn and took a LONG time to remove all the paint. After, he used a heat resistant paint that had a similar satin (or semi-gloss) type finish. He said a powder coat paint in the appropriate finish would have been ideal. His paint lasted for at least the two years further I owned the car...not sure what it looks like now. Make sure you put a paint prepping agent on, before applying the paint.
ACE Hardware, heavy duty. Wear gloves! The diaper is rather obnoxious. I wouldn't mind something like Stewarts either.
I found the guy on E-bay and sent him an e-mail but I have a feeling that the ones he was selling were for euro models. If he replies I'll let you know. The last one he sold only went for about $65. Pretty cheap!! As a last resort I may call the guys who did the paint work for me and have them clean it up and paint it. Gonna work some more on it myself first!!
DJ, By all means, plan a route for the group. Last year was a lot of fun. New route this year? I'm in!
I got some stuff from Lowes, wasn't really that nasty to work with but it took about 5 applications to get all the paint off. Got it primered and will get it sanded and painted tomorrow! Got the springs Friday but then found out the bushings for the new shocks don't match the existing bolts. Gonna try Tacoma Screw tomorrow, if they don't have what I need it's off to a machine shop to get something turned up! I gotta get this done by this coming weekend (which I will have off finally)!!! John
