I really think the ZO6 was lacking in the fresh air department, so I had an idea: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That good looking chum in the black shirt is me The dealer said "we'll give you a new roof, just make sure it's not on the car when you bring it in." So Larry, Matt, and myself decided to take care of that. Basically Matt grabbed one end and just started pulling. I have a new roof on already, much better. It was fun bringing the car in for warranty work with the crazy cam and no cats.
It's a whole new roof now. The first time he tried to get it fixed, they just did the budget fix and put some kind of glue/foam in there, which is the yellow gunk in the pictures. That obviously didn't work, so they gave him a whole new roof. His old roof is now a coffee table in my office.
The yellow dried foam is the first fix from GM. The problem with the glue-fix is that once the roof gets hot, the glues loses it's adhesion and it starts to delaminate. Since my car is black the situation was no doubt exacerbated. They painted a new roof and put it on the car 3 hours after we ripped this one off. The car is together and I drove it home last night.
