The car just sold at Mecuum in Monterey. Talked to the owner and president of Modena who built it for the movie. He said they estimated over a million for it, but it only sold for $225k.

House has been for sale for at least 3 years.

Unless you are looking for it, you will drive right by it
A fun piece of automotive history, however!

Previous so called original cars from the movie were sold, One at Russo Steels in AZ a few years back. But no proof that the car was actually part of the movie. This one was built and has always been owned by the builder/president of Modena. It's the first time the car went up for auction. It had all the related documentation with the car. I talked with the owner for a quite a long time.

I spoke to Neil Glassmoyer for quite some time about the car. He was the seller at the Mecum auction. BTW, the car at auction in Bonhams is a different car than the one that was auctioned on Saturday.

There were two cars built for the movie and according to him they differ slightly in the dash. The car that was auctioned at Mecum was the one with a more accurate dash and if you look closely you can tell the scenes this car was used in. It was used in the garage scenes with the close ups, the scenes showing the interior, and the drive away scene where Ferris tosses his hat in the air.

The other car was mainly used for stunts. It was the primary car in the infamous jump scene and it was damaged heavily. The exhaust was crushed and the the nose needed to be cut off and remade. The Mecum car was used too, but it was undamaged.

It is unclear if the Bonhams car or the Russo and Steele car was the 2nd movie car but it is 100% clear that the Mecum car is the primary hero car for the movie and the best of the two. Glassmoyer showed me a 3" binder full of documentation, memorabilia from the movie, several autographed photos, autographed movie poster, and photos and notes from the build of the car. It is clear he loved that car. He saved every scrap from every mention of the car in the media and it was included with it.

Glassmoyer also revised the engine in the car. It comes with his personal guarantee that it will be faster than any Ferrari you come up to on the street! With 500hp on 2600lbs, I think it will be tough to beat! It certainly is not a POS anymore as per Broderick's prior comments.
