These also appear in the Memoirs of a Bugatti Hunter book by Raffaelli. In fact, these were taken at Huveaune stadium and raced by the Gueydon brothers. Top picture is Jean Gueydon with Bugatti 44596.
this car had pretty much a stock chassis/running gear/drivetrain...with all the other junk welded/bolted on.....tho not common, it was not unusual to see a big bug, stripped of it's body used in such a manner...[nor other "classics" that at the time were used up and not worth fixing...i once had a 4 1/2 liter A- type invicta that had seen similar duty...and then abandoned.
