It seems like this horsepower and top speed struggle is a bubble waiting to be popped by something truly original.

What's the word on the Regera? When will the car be available to the press?

I don't think it ever will be available to the press. They just produce too few cars.

Why is the fuel tank only 9 gallons? The Veyron had over 25.

I think the Valkyrie is going to put an end to high HP and Vmax with how special it will be.

If LAF/P1/918 couldn't put an end to it then the super limited production Valkyrie will not.

The Valkyrie is nothing like the other 3 and is in a different category. It's essentially a 2,250 lb road-going LMP car designed by one of the best race car designers in history. The Veyron and Chiron are in a different class than the LaF/P1/918 as well. The AMG Project One should not be compared to the LaF/P1/918 for that matter. The engineering of the LaF/P1/918 is not at the same level as the Valkyrie/Chiron/Project One.

Oh I beg to differ. The engineering was revolutionary. They were the biggest leap in automotive engineering since the Veyron from arguably the three biggest exotic producers (Mclaren not as big as the others). They were much quicker than anything else (still are, really), stronger breaks, amazing looks and efficiency. They didn't chase top soeed, all three max out 215-220 mph. And still Bugatti went for 280+ with the Chiron, less than 10 mpg, 4400 pounds.

The Valkyrie will exist. No one will ever see it. No magazine will ever test it. They'll barely get driven. The tech in it is incredible, no doubt, but it won't influence the automotive landscape anywhere near what the 3 hybrids have. How many Ksegg Regeras have we seen out and about?

At least thats my opinion :)

I agree that it won't influence, but I don't think any new hypercar will. They're a dying breed. All cars will be eventually replaced with electric-only power sources. The only thing people will care for by then is a charging cable that is compatible with their car like we have today with phones. :(

Not sure where motortrend journalist got their info, but tank is 26 gallons. So that's 260 miles or so per fill up. Not good but better than Veyron.

On the subject of fluids, topped up with fuel and other fluids, the Chiron's kerb weight increases about 400 pounds versus it's dry weight.

I came across with that. It looks very nicely specced.

I'm mortified by the US spec rear bumper add ons. So much so that I have cleverly decided they should be officially be referred to as the "Swim Steps". I seek your cooperation in spreading this reference to viral levels, so that I will finally become famous for something.

In case my genius is not readily apparent to anyone, I refer to exhibit A, visible via this link: http://www.performanceboats.com/gallery/data/500/P6090023.JPG

Yes those are horrible. But I will give Bugatti credit. Instead of designing the car for universal standards and sacrificing the looks and performance for everyone in the world, they made the US only suffer with this outrage.

It's a ridiculous requirement for a car costing $2m that it has to need this under 5 mph standard. The US should have waivers for cars of low production.

I did not like the looks of the Veyron but I think this is pretty darn cool. Too bad it runs out of fuel so fast though.

What is the actual penalty for removing them? I've read it voids insurance but I've also read it's just a $200 fine. The cop has to be smart enough to know that they should be there if that's the case which is unlikely.

People modify their cars with non-DOT/EPA approved stuff all the time and no one really cares. It's a simple fix for owners. It's no different than the ugly parts Amerispec used to import the McLaren F1 legally back in the day...those bumpers and headlights were easily removable and owners did take them off once legalized.

I tell you guys the more videos I watch if the Chiron the more I love it. Looks so sinister in dark colors. Launches like a 918 from 0-62, then a P1 from 62-124, then like nothing from 124 onward. I can't wait to see official test results.

While contemplating an order my friend was told by Bugatti they are still sorting out official numbers and calibrations. 0-100 kph in 2.3, 0-200 kph in 6.3, and 0-300 kph in 12.9 are the goals. I know those are just numbers but man the feeling associated with them has to be epic. Non stop stomach churning force until 200 mph.

Combined with how heavy the car is but how great they've allegedly made the steering and brake feel. It's just something else.

Oh and $3.2-4 MILLION. All crazy. Insurance alone would be $10,000ish a quarter.

    One can dream.

    Bugatti released official acceleration times.

    0-100 kph in 2.4s
    0-200 kph in 6.1s
    0-300 kph in 13.1s.

That's insane! Supposedly the Regera has or will have this:

    0-100 in 2.7
    0-200 in 6.6
    0-300 in 10.9
    0-400 in 20

I think the first two Regera numbers are believable, but not the last two...the Chiron looks more realistic and still insanely impressive.

I agree with your assessment. Koenigsegg releases their numbers from computer modeling in the real world I can't see a road car doing 0-400 in 20 seconds. The friction with the road/air just won't allow it.
