Interesting move by Bugatti. I'd be a bit ticked, I'd think, if I just purchased a run of the mill Chiron a year ago that was heralded as the greatest car ever only to have something a little special so soon. Granted there was no shortage of Veyron special editions but those were typically always cosmetic. Super Sport edition didn't come until 5 years after the fact.
Bugatti would have presented a new model named "Divo" to customers. Private preview was in Beverly Park, Los Angeles. It's a new version of the Chiron. Same power as the Chiron Sport (1500hp). It will be an extremely limited model.
FWIW: the 100th "Chiron" produced left the Molsheim factory this 24th of May (heading for the Gulf...) https://france3-regions.francetvinfo.fr/grand-est/molsheim-centieme-exemplaire-chiron-est-sorti-atelier-bugatti-1480381.html Rgds
That trunk divider bracket is the STUPIDEST thing and horribly cheap looking for $3 M. The oil cap is also stupid. How many people will put gas in the oil? They couldn't make it different? Those black bumpers at the back are horrific.
Agreed on all parts. Hopefully part of the PDI is the removal of that dumb divider thing. The black bumpers remind me of the bumper blocks on a 1970s Mercedes SL. I hope to god Bugatti made it so those can be simply unbolted.
Here’s the problem Some moron in a 2007 Honda Civic hits you at 3mph and does half million in damage. Your insurance company says “too bad. You modified the car. We won’t pay”
No, I do not think a comparison is of any real value. The Chiron is an incredible work of art on wheels that I happen to have driven 228mph. Having said that, when I first took delivery, I went up a favorite winding mountain road and was left longing for my GT3RS. It is not a curvy mountain road sort of car. It is phenomenal for cruising and occasionally flooring it on highways and byways. It is a level of elegance and jaw dropping beauty perhaps unparalleled both today and historically. I may have used this quote before, but Bill Graham famously said about the Grateful Dead, “They’re not the best at what they do, they’re the only ones that do what they do.” To some extent, this applies to Bugatti. They’ve designed this gorgeous 1500hp, 1200lb ft of torque, 2000hp braking power machine. Nobody does that. It’s so dang beautiful in dark blue carbon fiber with tangerine interior and a Bugatti elephant stitched into the headrest as to be better placed in an art museum. When people see a Bugatti on the road, they don’t oogle, or take a picture, they swerve to the side of the road, jump out, scream, cry, and propose marriage. And that’s just the car guys. Do I love Ferraris more? Of course. But the Bugatti Chiron has earned a place wheverever it wants to go.
