[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z76slQRYmc4[/ame] The best part of that video is that it loops into a piece on the tdf. (I don't think I'm going to like the Chiron.)
I was never, never, NEVER a fan of the look of the Veyron but I think this car is 1) really beautiful 2) strikingly different looking than any other super car out there. It's completely unique I personally think it's a exercise in futility and excessive waste (2.5 million? Give me a break). But as a piece or ART and not a CAR, it's an amazing achievement. Then again, for 2.5 million you can buy a lot of classic rolling art instead of this.
I won't believe it until it's weighed. They're claiming it's much sportier and more fun on a track. Can't be if it weights that much more.
I like it - and I'm just happy they are still making a Bugatti at all. While its not the Type 35, it does represent technology and style like the Bugatti Bros. intended. the cars are much more impressive in person vs. photos. Hoping the Chiron is as well. I just wish they would go racing again.
I agree that this is more art than car but it is beautiful and how many of the $1M cars get driven anyways? This car makes me not want to care one bit what kind of numbers it puts out. Having established its credentials with the last car, Bugatti went very Avant Garde with some of the styling elements. A big thumbs up to Bugatti and its German parent.
340 lbs for what? No battery or electric motor right? (I know it's a bit bigger but they claim the carbon fibre body weighs the same) No major new tech? I like the looks (somewhat) though.
What a friggin disappointment. Why not just call it the Veyron? It looks identical. The blue concept car was something to get excited about, not another Veyron.
Just a veyron updated, then. Original Veyron left me cold. Idea of a full blacked out one is cool if I had way too much money to throw around. I figured it (and the Chiron now) would be quite nice to drive across a continent, reliable, tons of power, not as much noise as a LaFerrari/Zonda (which both sound unmeasurably better, but we're talking long, long drives here!), and when you inevitably sit in a big traffic jam the automatic gearbox takes over. But the list of cars to buy before a Chiron is very, very, very long.
Keeping fans and brand loyalty aside. There is nothing out there that matched the Veyron quality and attention to fine fine details. If you after sound and so on so be it my 430 Scud with titanium makes mental. There is no other car that matched the Veyron quality to date, and yes I've seen the Chiron on privet viewing and a day before Geneva. And it's even beyond. I got a Zonda F CS yes fine beautiful materials and craftsmanship from Mr.Pagani. but nothing like a Bugatti nor the Huayra can match the bugatti quality either. Drove a laferarri many times and own many exotics. Bugatti from a different planet when it comes to quality. Nothing comes close IMHO. Mbn
The numbers are crazy! They're promising almost no understeer and controllable oversteer! Talk of no lag. First Press footage of interior: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFr9FYJ-QWA[/ame]
