it will be the benchmark for years to come, I especially like it in this colour combo Image Unavailable, Please Login
horrible handler? where are you getting this from? from what I read it handles like a giant elise, and put's down a pretty impressive time at the nurburgring 7:39.39 161.219 km/h -- Porsche Carrera GT, 612 PS/ 1475 kg, Walther Röhrl (AutoBild 02/06) 7:40 --- 161.217 km/h Bugatti 16/4 Veyron, 1001 PS/1980 kg (Wheels magazine Australia, 12/05) 7:40* -- 161.217 km/h Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, 640 PS/1655 kg (AutoBild sportscars 01/07) *mfr., company test driver Giorgio Sanna 7:40 --- 161.217 km/h -- Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren, Klaus Ludwig (AutoBild 07/04) Ive yet to see a Ferrari post a time like that
That's an impressive time for how fat it is. I'm guessing it makes up a lot of time on the straights.
And they throw the Corvette into the realm of Super Cars once again. We all have no doubt that the Z06 is fast, and we need not be reminded of it time and time again. If you believe that the Z06 is somehow better than the Veyron, please voice that opinion instead of hiding it in figurative speach. Or, you could look at both machines as having completely different purposes, possibly not worth the price difference, but never the less very different. The Veyron is a grand tourer, a fast car when it needs to be, and an ugly car no matter how hard you try to find beauty. The Z06 is merely a brute by any definition of the word you can commit to a car. I'd have to agree in that I don't believe it to be that amazing as "the fastest car in the world". It simply has very little appeal to me, but we have to admit it is pretty amazing that it weighs 2 tons, and still has the get up and go. Peter Hatch
It's an opinion, and not even a strong one at that. It's obviously a single persons view on the car. I don't see the reason for your being upset here.
I believe that the thing in question is why someone bothers to post something like "it isn't tossable" when they have no personal experience. I know I've made more than my share of stupid comments, but when you only have assumptions based on magazine racing, I think claiming that you understand it's capabilities of handling etc. unacceptable unless having some point to back it. Everyone's opinions are wanted, but quite frankly if all you want to say is something like "it's stupid" it is only alright if you have a reason to back it up. Even if your reasoning is subjective without driving it. Perhaps an answer more like "The weight of four thousand pounds probably makes it fairly incapable of taking turns very well" then we can continue on with someone else saying something like "it is a beautiful piece of machinery... and so on and so forth," while they in turn have never driven it either, or possibly never even seen one themself. Eventually the thread will die, and we will all continue believing just as we did at the beginning of the argument. So let's get it over with. It's faster than God. And with that, it's a hell of a lot faster than most of the owners will be able to handle (not referring to the one that crashed in the rain, we all know how rain affects traction with a lot of horsepower.) It's heavier than anything even remotely close to it's class. And with that everyone assumes it can't turn, even if everything we read about it says 100% otherwise. It's as ugly as a donkey's ass. If you don't see that, ask yourself why every article claims that the most beautiful part of the car is the engine. Now ask yourself why that could possibly be so. Maybe because it's the only part worth looking at? It has nothing to do with the Bugatti's from back in the day, other than the ugliest part of the car, the horseshoe grille. Even if it "screams heritage" because of the two tone paint or whatever, that is pretty much the only thing that may have possibly come from a relative of the originals. All in all, people will be talking about it for years on end as they did with the McLarens, except with more arguments because they aren't willing to race them. Truth of the matter is that 8/10 people will never see one, and even less than that who have an idea of what it is. On top of that 1/10,000,000 will ever drive one. And we will probably never hear exactly what we want to hear from anyone who does. Peter Hatch
The amazing Top Gear episode - James May does 407,08 KmH in a Bugatti Veyron (!!!) A must see ! http://rapidshare.com/files/20396625/TopGear_Veyron_VMax.wmv.html The Bugatti Veyron development (in German but worth the dwnld) : http://rapidshare.com/files/20393648/BugattiVeyron_Development.avi.html
Well Pete, when something weighs 4000 pounds, common sense can tell you it isn't tossable. It's not a Elise ya know....
So are you saying all the motoring journalists who have highly praised the Veyrons capabilities are liars? Or do you just refuse to believe them without personal experience? Gordon Murray himself said its a great track car, he'd rather use it there than on a road, and i think he knows what hes talking about! Image Unavailable, Please Login
