Could someone tell me the build date when all 308's came with the galvanized bodys. I know it's 1984 model but what was the general Manufactured date. I'm looking at a Euro 308 QV built in late 83 imported in 84. *ZFFLA13B000048305*

Ferrari's "zincrox" rust proofing for 308QV'S started in January 1984 I believe.

This car is registered with Wade's 308 QV register, Rosso corso with Nero trim, no rear spoiler, deep front Euro spoiler...... Swiss import, built October 1983.. imported to the U.S.A as a 1984 model . It will not have the zincrox treatment to its panel work!

    Cheers,

    Pete

    It was January.

But exactly when in January, no one really knows. My car was completed on Jan 30th 1984. I hope the body make the cut.

How do you tell if it has or not? My car (49057) was probably built right around the time the change was made.

With the very little information I have about the zincrox it leads me to believe that the process started in mid Nov of 1983 around chassis # 48089

    but can't be totally sure

When I removed my front valence to replace it with the Koenig Specials one,
I noticed where the valence meet or butted with the front fender, is unpainted
and I saw the galvanize of the fender.

10 years ago it was probably worth it, but now that 30 years have past, now that that zinc has begun to oxidize, its all a big wash. Buy the very best car you find and afford. And try to keep it that way.

Interesting thread here. When I go to (or judge sporadically) FCA meets in our region, my completely non-scientific eyeball survey shows rust in the typical suspect areas on equally as many or little 328's and (especially) 3.2 Mondials as it does 308's ... though definitely the numbers are SMALL for all types. Why is this ?? The Northeast is hard on these cars ?? Are most of the older 308's already on at least their 1st repaint and therefore the demon rust was taken care of at some point, skewing my highly scientific eyeball tally of 308's vs newer cars ?? Hmmm...

In any event, I certainly agree with the above post, galvanizing doesn't appear to be a sure fire gaurantee, but then again, do I wish my ' 82 had it ?? ... YES !!! :)

I've got 49461, built in Dec 83 as an 84 model. I always thought it missed the cut by about the month. I'm pretty sure it doesn't have any, but maybe I just can't tell.

I've since heard the same thing as above....that it doesn't much matter 25 years later. it's all gone by now anyway.
