Can someone remind me how to confirm the specific production/build date of my Mondial 3.2?

The last digits of serial number on the vin is 076537

I have done the VIN decoder and all the parameters indicate as they should but do not identify the actaul build date. I recall years ago somehow determining my car was built in Sept 1987.

This is all for an emissions purpose, I may be able to get an emission test exemption as the e test in Ontario is required for 1988 and on models, there is no age based cutoff anymore. 1987 is exempt for all time going forward, while mine will never be exempt. Since my 1988 car is identical emissions wise to the 1987, I am making the case that build date is the relevant indicator. Also, since my car is a Swiss market, the VIN does not indicate model year for that market, that was only done for the NA markets. That may help the case for using the build date.

My car does fine with emissions, but there are increasingly few shops with the old style gas analyzers to even do the test, they have all gone to reading the computers on the newer cars rather than doing the exhaust sniff.

Not sure the government will go along with a special exemption, but I am making the case and they appear willing to listen..

Thank you, Ferrari responded with a build date of March 1988.

It may have been a quick answer - sadly not the one you needed....

Indeed, wonderful e-tests forever more every two years, with many shops not even having the gas analyzer equipment anymore as they have phased out that method of testing with new computers that just read a new car's computer.
