I recall a post where someone mentioned that you can go to ferrari.com, plug in the serial number of your car and receive the original build info (color, options, etc.). I went to the site and searched and searched, but could not find what was described. Can anyone help?
Also, I'm trying to find out what Ferrari called my carpet color. I would call it tan, but the closest I have found online is called Cognac. My 1988 is missing the capet on the driver and passenger sides and someone thiought perhaps the 88 328 came that way. I don't think so, but who really knows.

You go into My Garage section, and register your VIN....

They evaluate per their records, and confirm the date of build and also the exterior/interior color codes.

It takes a few days and then you can see it, not instantly..

Anything more now requires Classiche process....

The interior code refers to the leather actually,.....not sure how you'd match up the carpet other than by sample, 1988 shouldn't be hard...

    Exactly as Big Tex says.

A little more detail from jdubbya, from the "Ferrari.com says my car used to be Argento..." thread below:

If you haven't registered it's at http://www.ferrari.com/Pages/Country_Selector.aspx Once you register look for "my Ferrari" and you can register your car. I don't remember what it took but I think it's just chassis number. Once it's there it should show on the "my Ferrari" page with a tab that says "my 308 GTS" click on the "go to the section" button and it should come up with a stock photo and the color info on the right.

The website shows my car's original colors, and my purchase date, but not the build date--which is the info I really wanted.

Do you know where this info is located on the website?

    Thanks.

It's stamped "By Month" in the door jamb plate of North American cars....odd the Factory would list the "sell" date, are you sure???

Mine's a Euro car, so there is no door jamb plate.

Yeah, it shows the purchase date I provided when I registered it on Ferrari.com (November 1995). I've attached an image of the webpage, FYI.

I'm just curious of the build date since my car is an '82 model 2V GTSi, but there are a number of '83 QV's with earlier serial numbers (mine is 42995)

I thought as I posted that might be the case....

Wade, they have changed it all since I registered there long ago...it's an owners subsection now????

    Look for "My Garage".......

Woo-hoo, mine is in there, too! :)

When I registered a couple of years ago, the web site was all screwy, and I wasn't even sure it "took".

Says mine is Nero/Nero/Nero. Good to know my eyeballs and their records agree! :D

You have to log in then you'll get a screen showing configurator on left your car in middle my garage on right - click on my garage then go to section then about my car - if you have logged in and cannot see your car it is because they have not loaded your details yet (eg if you have only just registered & added a car) - having said all that I'm not sure the heritage certificate with the date of manufacture is still available

They don't provide the Certificate any longer, you are correct on that, Jimmie.....that stopped just shortly before the rollout of Classiche Services....

This confused the heck out of me as well, until I poked around some more. The key is that at the Register page, click on the "Register as Owner" rather than the normal registration. When you click this link, you'll get to a form at the bottom of the screen where you get to fill in info about you and your car.

I question the accuracy of the information on the site. I registered my car last year, and the site thinks my car was originally Marrone (Brown!) I know the car was repainted, but I see no evidence whatsoever that the car was originally brown. I think Pelle beige is correct though for my interior. There's also a link to download a PDF of the 308 homologation certificate.

    which it never has before..

nice to know my original interior was black ... white interior with purple paint would have been hideous.. now i know the interior was changed aswell as the paint (to resale red)

The car should have come with carpeting. Someone must have removed it before you purchased the car.

Not sure what country you are in, but if you are in the USA, contact Lucy Petrone in NJ, at Ferrari Classiche Services. She might be able to research the color of the carpet etc. They won't send you anything in writing without a fee. Prior to my car being 20 years old/qualified for the Classiche Services, I contacted her regarding original colors, and they were able to tell me the original exterior color, dashboard color, interior color, and carpet color. I think I paid around $300 for something in writing from them stating this information, but that was a few years ago.

    Best regards,
    Dino

I had a thread going regarding this; it says my car was originally silver and I've taken the car apart and there is NO silver on it. Even a bare metal wouldn't have gotten rid of every trace. I think things changed on the assembly line and their records were not updated at the time of build. Take it with a grain of salt.
