Guys, planning a 4 car garage with loft and bathroom, I need help on budgeting. Can anyone just help me with some ideas of cost per foot? I’m planning 25x 45. Just to get me started?

Gonna vary tremendously depending on what exactly you want, and your location. If you want it to be more like a house, with HVAC, finished interior and so on, the rough number I got from our architect was $250 a sqft. That was for a single story, 4 over sized bays, about the same size. If you just want a basic pole barn they can go as low as $25 a sqft.

I’m almost done with my 23’ x 40’ garage that’s attached to my existing two car garage, that’s attached to my house. Mine isn’t going to have a bathroom.

I got a couple quotes from different builders, they were between $45K and $90K. I’m over $130K now when I just ordered the two garage doors. I put a rear garage door in so I can drive straight thru the garage and into my backyard.

If I can offer any advice, make sure you check out the contractor you hire to do the build. The first guy I hired was a complete idiot and didn’t know how to read plans, I had to fire him.

Also, go bigger than you think you need.

I just finished my garage ( pics in the garage pics thread) paid right at $144/145 sq ft, including A/C / heat. 6 car garage, overlooking loft with separate bathroom, refrigerator, cabinet space. About 2100 sq ft.

Lots of choices to discuss here
    What kind of construction
    How much site prep
What do you have for water and gas coming in and water going out
    What level of finishes

Some good comments here. Location will have a lot to do with building costs. And as ferrariwithsnowtires noted site work can be a big expense. Will the new structure be accessible from and existing drive? Is the site flat or sloped? Good soil bearing for foundations or do you need to excavate and fill. These site costs can be as high as construction costs for the building if there are a lot of requirements before starting. Obviously in Montana your footings will need to be deeper than in GA where Richris1 is located.

    Like Jaguar36 said I would budget $250-$300/sf.

We were quoted $125 / ft for a barn condo with no interior finish so could easily be converted to garage space. No HVAC or plumbing in that quote. Just a weatherized shell with a nice outside finish.

Having a garage built now at a member race track called Apex. Cost to shell is about $230 per/sqft. Adding another $123 per/sqft for build out.

What’s the configuration of the garage doors? Will you have 4 on the 45’ side or two on the 25’ side?

My contractor was a god! Overbuilt everything on time and under budget.

Where I had snags that really :mad::mad: was: The garage door installer was flaky. I had to chase after him and basically find someone else. A little tough because a "roof pitch" installation was needed to accommodate the lift. Also, the cement contractor showed up with insufficient material!!! Check references.
