How long is a cubit? I have 2 male cats and a male dog so far, but they're all neutered. This is insane. I've been hoping for rain due to the dry lakes, but damn....
If you're not looking to being along 2 of every animal, I'd say 30ft would be sufficient. I haven't watched the news, y'all getting non stop rain? Flooding?
It's been crazy. All lakes east of the dry line are full up or close to it. Tornados on the ground near Denton and Sherman. Starting to churn up south west of the Metroplex. Be safe everyone....T
Just had another flash flood warning, "high water rescues are in progress..." Too bad there's no room for people on my ark. Unless they're hot chicks.
Granbury has been down 9 feet and now back to normal. We need the rain and hopefully this signals the end of the drought that has affected central Tejas for several years.
Weatherman says there's the possibility of 2-4 more inches this week, time to outfit the daily driver with high floatation tires.
Not yet, at least as far as lake levels ago. You only need to go a bit west of the dry line and Lake Arrowhead (southeast of Wichita Falls) is only 40%. Of course, it was 20% a week ago. Lake Bridgeport - about half full. Further west, even more dire. http://www.waterdatafortexas.org/reservoirs/statewide T
Think of us lowly ditchdiggers trying to lay some water and sewer pipes in this mess. Best backlog of jobs in 10 years, and looks like this week could be a total washout. I am sure you will need a sewer specialist on the ARK, so put me down.
After the severe drought that we've been in, with all the water restrictions, it will be a long long time before I complain about too much rain.
True, but it is very location dependent. In north, north central and southeast Texas the reservoirs are in good shape. Our brothers and sisters in south Texas, west Texas and the Panhandle are not so lucky. Wish we could figure out how to ship our current excess to them. Good news is that as a whole the state reservoirs are sitting at 77% capacity, compared to 62% half a year ago .T
Yep. Travis is sitting at 38%. Buchanan more or less the same. Oddly, Canyon Lake, just south and east, is 80%. And, up the road, Lake Waco is 100%. Lake Medina to the west? Drier than a bone, 4.5% of capacity....T
Rain here does no good, it just goes down stream. Rain needs to be in San Saba, San Angelo, Abilene and between here and there. That's the watershed area. This place is just the bottom of the funnel.
You catch on quick, for a relative newcomer. I was just looking at www.waterdatafortexas.com it this morning. Texas Reservoirs Monitored Water Supply Reservoirs are 76.8% full on 2015-05-13 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I check the above once or twice a month. It's a lot less ugly than it has been in a long time, for a good chunk of Texas. Another good URL to keep on top of drought conditions is the one from U. Nebraska - Lincoln. United States Drought Monitor > Home This is for our neck of the woods. Regional Drought Monitor As you can see, Texas is doing much better than a year ago, but still dire up around "the bend" (where north Texas meets the Panhandle, e.g., Childress and Seymour) and dry in the watershed for Austin that was mentioned a few posts above.
