Saddened beyond words. Angry too! Please count me in on any collection for Jon & Amanda. Stay safe out there my friends!
That is a terrible news. Unbelievable! And please don't blame the old car. Damn pot smoker is the problem. I'm so upset!
There should be zero tolerance for anyone that drives under the influence. With uber and so many options there is ZERO excuse. I hope that driver gets locked away for life.
this has ruined my day. I was traveling and have just seen this. I am so sad and so angry. please tell me she is still with us???? Alan's r.i.p. post above has me sick to my stomach. jon is a seriously good man and I am gravely concerned.
Here in my country we had an "Alcohol lock": don't know if you in the USA have something similar or have even heard of it. People that were caught driving under the influence of alcohol FOR SEVERAL TIMES (!!!!) were forced to have a device installed that measured the % of alcohol in their breath (blowing in a tube). If too much the car would not start. (and yes, you could have somebody else blow in it for you, the electronics would'nt know..) Some folks went to court with some b*ll**** argument regarding privacy/freedom of mobility etc. etc. , backed up by some slick lawyer, and got their way: alcohol lock was proclaimed "illegal" by some &#%&#&*@)! judge. That is were I simply don't understand the World anymore. Common sense is swiped aside, b*ll**** rules/laws/some &*$*^)@*) judge's **** up. It is as idiotic as for instance the Belgian law, stating home searches are not allowed between 21.00 and 05.00. So any criminal or terrorist could literally sleep in peace. I heard this particular law is cancelled since 2 days (I wonder why....). And there are still numerous simlpy idiotic rules, laws and judges. Forgive me my poor English, I had to get it off my chest, I am really só p*ssed off every time I hear about an innocent person getting injured/even killed and the offender gets away with it. In my country some drunk idiot in a speedboat overran another small boat very late in the evening/ early in the morning, killed 2 of the 4 passengers, didn't bother to try to give first aid, and ending up with way less punishment than demanded, because it happened so very late (or early) in the dark that he could not be held accountable in full, because he could not have expected that on that time the lake could be used by other people. Go figure. Thank you, mister judge... I'd better stop ranting. I apologise. I wish Jon and all of the other relatives/people involved all the strenght to cope with this situation.
Noted in article regarding Jon's Porsche "without shoulder harness and airbags".....not to be too "touchy" or sensitive, but do you guys sense an air of "victim's fault" due to no modern safety restraints? Why would that be included in the write-up? Bullfighter was simply enjoying a beautiful Easter drive with two things he undoubtedly loved..GF, Porsche..and due to our country's "personal freedom/rights" being placed above personal RESPONSIBILITY...3x convicted !!...two families are destroyed. I too enjoyed BF posts and hope for his recovery. Very very sad for his companion. Jack
I didn't get the sense of blame but unfortunately its a big factor in the outcome and the risk one accepts (or should be aware of) with such a car.
eric, please let me know if I can help you with anything locally. jon is a friend and I am happy to assist you in any way. thank you for all you are doing. best, peter
I didn't get the sense of blame either. What if the toyota driver hit a motorcycle? Very sad to hear about Amanda.
I didn't get the feeling they were blaming the victim, but I did find it odd that they pointed it out. Of course it didn't have airbags...it is 50 years old!
I got the sense they pointed out the lack of safety restraints to emphasize the severity of the injuries to the occupants. That said, I haven't even been able to focus at work for the last two days. I don't even know Jon, and I'm just so sad and angry on so many levels hearing about this. I'm at a loss for words.
I can't imagine what Jon is going through right now in any way whatsoever. I have no point of reference. My hope is that the post regarding Amanda is incorrect somehow. Please let that be the case. PDG
".... just so sad and angry on so many levels...." Hard to restrict my feelings just to this; so many things to say; must not pollute this thread; must keep them for another thread another time. Godspeed Jon.
The article might have been targeted at explaining the gravity of the collision to younger readers. I had some workmates who were too young to remember cars that didn't have airbags and they were surprised when we once came across an older car that didn't. They talk about the original release iPhone or the Nokia 6110 in the same manner we might a Ferrari 275 GTB, and they have absolutely no interest or awareness of past production cars. Anyway, something for another discussion another time, perhaps. My apologies if that was a bit of a tangent. All the best, Andrew.
I have sent a "Friend Request" and a Private Message to Elli England thru FB....she's the one that posted the comment, and apparently worked with Amanda at Fullerton. I let her know there were considerable resources here, standing by to assist in any way.. I will post when I hear back, if I do...
I've woken up in the ER after a crash....so, I do.. This one is slightly worse, IMO We are all going to help. Because, we can.....
please update us if you hear back from elli. there seems no update on jon's or Amanda's condition here locally. we are in the dark for now. we can only hold out for the best.
